No - this guy is pretty sharp. He's an excellent network admin and he's in excellent shape. He'll be a great asset to the ARNG.

Funny didn't know my "NCO's" (which I don't have) were in charge of manning in the military. Common knowledge the more of an asshole/retard/douche you are the further you can go in the military... just look at the majority of E7 & above and O..3 and above.

W2's are pretty bad, some of them, because they think they are officers now and demand respect without giving any out. Once they hit W3 it calms down, W4's are cool.. and I've only ever talked to one W5 and he was one of the most laid back people I've seen in the military. Even our old XO and stuff would call him sir he had been in like 39 years.

Can you really get OCS right from enlisting? I always thought you had to be recommended by your chain of command?

Are there no NCOs in your unit?

Military has plenty of standards. It's up to the NCOs to set the example and to hold their soldiers (sailors, airmen, marines) accountable to the standards. You say that the bigger of an asshole/retard/douche you are the further you can go in the military. Unless you just pulled that opinion out of your ass, you probably based it on some pisspoor NCOs that you know or worked with. I blame your NCOs. They obviously failed to set an example worthy of being followed.

No I'm just giving you a hard time because I refuse to acknowledge the word "NCO" when it comes to describing the Navy. I have an LPO, who is great. My old LPO was a shitbag. We then have chiefs, who you group in with your NCO category but is completely different from ours as an LPO is generally an E6 (and obviously chiefs are E7-E9). Most of them are corrupt fuckers.

Navy works like this, you have your LPO and he is your immediate superior. ANY E6 & below beyond that is just another person. I wouldn't give a flying fuck if some other E6 from another department came and told me to do something unless he/she was in charge of say a working party my LPO told me to go on. That is how it works. You deal with your people and your people only.

Do we suffer from a lack of discipline when compared to Marines/Army? Probably, but that's just how it is.
