Despite being a bit shy to post i've been watching this forum for a long time.

But you guys are the harshest fuckin critics on the planet :p and I can't post links or images (cause I don't have a sub?)

I submitted my Mustang shot to an online photography award and got a finalist placing.

My second entry didn't make it to the finals (1 place short)

If you LIKE the photo - there's a people's choice award for this competition :big grin:

    internationalapertureawards.com

It's the only car photo out of all the finalist entries

    Peace :x:

And those are some great images. I don't see how you ranked 3rd....I think it should be first. But then again I didn't read the rules and restrictions.

    WOW.

Only thing that bugs me about the Mustang, are the contrasting shadows.

Thanks for displaying my links :big grin:

The Mustang shot is really popular in the US. Not so much outside of America.

When I submitted the Mustang shot to a local Australian award, it just got silver.

To be honest, I absolutely love the other shots in the awards, maybe cause I specialize in car photography - I appreciate other forms of photography more?

Do you do anything else, maybe nobody there likes the mustang because there is not allot of color in the shot.

On another note, how are the picture3s that are 1st and 2nd in any way related to advertising/commercial? They are great, but don't seem to fit that theme in any sort of way.

You shoot medium format digital, have many corporate automotive clients and you're afraid of what OTAP will say?

    so....lens/body used?

    ...just kidding.

seriously though, your work is dope man, not sure why you'd be concerned about OTAP's review. Double thumbs up from me.

I used a Canon 1ds mark II for both shots, in fact pretty much all the shots currently in my portfolio.

I bought a Mamiya AFDIII lately but I only used it for one big gig in Europe and that shoot is still currently embargoed.

I can't wait to get my grubby hands on a 5D Mark II when I can :) the 1Ds2 will finally retire. It's served me more than 3 years.

I use various continuous lighting depending on whats available on location to paint light. It's the only viable solution to lighting cars because they're so large.

The pictures arn't really Advertising/Commercial... I agree, but I don't think it fits the other categories as well so I just put it in where I think it's best suited. The Judges can move my shot to other categories if they think it belongs somewhere else. It probably suits "editorial" more, but definately not photojournalism because there's so much staging and manipulation done.
