haha. I'm thinking I shouldn't have done this. I wanna go to SOI now! Anyways, nothing really happened. A few hippies tried tried to convert me to kabala. And I chatted it up w/ a few Israeli soldiers. That was my day.

*sighs* I thought I was just gunna do clerical work. oh well :o

    You are a Marine.

If you are DPAC, don't you go to MCT and not SOI?

    Or have they changed things?

    Oh, and I hated RA.
Almost got bagged to be a recruiter too, but missed that by a month or so....

i didn't do RA until 1.5 years in and as an E3 so i never had to canvas events and so forth. i remember they expected the fresh boots straight back from training to their old schools, chat up their buddies, go through every single person listed in a yearbook and blah blah.

the easiest way honestly though is to find a buddy to go out with you to schools in dress blues or dress chucks and set up a table.

kids you find at the malls will never extend beyond "hey fuck you". we also had a lot of drop ins so that helped too.

I wouldn't even go close to high schools or colleges, aclu would be all over me.

And sorry I don't know what DPAC is. But I'm 0300. When my company back at boot got our orders, all infantry automatically had the option to do RA. Every other MOS had to request it. Don't know why.

I don't have any dress blues yet (didn't want right now) so it's the service charlies for me. But I am going through all my buddies to see if they're intrested, which some are.

Either than that, I can't wait for this week to be over.

And a little off topic but, is there such thing as a buddy program for SOI? I ask cause it'd be pretty sweet to be w/ some of the guys from my boot platoon.

I remember our First Sergeant in SOI asking everyone "Is there anyone here in the buddy program, who isn't with their buddy now?"

But that was only if you were in the buddy program during boot camp.

Plus, it's hard. Pogues go to MCT, and Infantry goes to ITB. Then, if a Marine becomes anything other than 0311, he gets thrown into Weapons Platoon. The 0311's are divided into two other platoons.

I can imagine SOI looking/feeling like a dump 2nd phase was in pendelton. I'm hoping to get 0311.

I loved SOI, when I first checked in, I was one of the last groups before forming, and we stayed at reception the first weekend, which happened to be the 4th of July weekend, so we all got a 96 as soon as we checked in.

I was in Delta company, SOI West. We split into 2 platoons of 0311 and two of weapons. We didn't have any LAV fags, or 0352's. After I left there, I went to the Security Force Training Company and spent the next two years in Naples, Italy. That duty rocked! Definitely something to look at if you can, unless you are just itching to get to Iraq or Afghanistan. When I got ordered back to the Fleet Marine Force, I ended up at 2nd LAR, with the LAV fags :big grin: I ended up being a scout, then going to H&S company and being the Training NCO until I left active duty.

Ther was two platoons of 11's and 1 of weapons when I was there. Sounds like they change it up depending on company and how many Marines.

Thanks for the insight on your experiences, guys. Do they got computers up there? I'd love to send post pics of training.

On a lighter note, while out on RA, me and another pfc were called baby killers! God damn I love America! :eek5:

I was in Naples for a little less than 4 years! Vesuvius, Pompeii, the endless beaches, all of Italy... you're right - it definitely rocks.

I hated RA. For some reason my recruiter always thought I was home watching tv rather than out trying to get names for him.
