So i started workign out about 2 and a bit months ago, i'm 6'2 and 155 lbs. I know, i am fraking skinny. Im bulking. Anyways i maxed near the beggining and i was doing 135, i tried today and i hit 155. (after going 135, 140,145,150, then 155) So I'm pretty happy. I was doing alot of DB bench and some BB bench. But i maxed on BB. Just thought i would share, because i thought that was pretty good in 2 months.

Lifting your own body weight with a frame like that is pretty impressive I suppose.

Have you thought about going for size gains over strength? I realise this was probably a one-lift max.

if you were fasting, then it would have been 30 lbs

I was able to lift as much on my second day of fasting as I did beforehand.

Rebuttal? Or were you just being an ass...

Yea, i want to bulk up ofcourse. Look at my routine in the Routine forum, or point me to one that would be good.

When you do the one rep max, do a warmup set, and go straight to your last max. So rep 135 like 6 times, then rest a minute or two, and go for that 155+ attempt.

I did that and found out that I could have lifted 200+ before, but was always stuck at 195 because I tired myself out beforehand.

But good job nonetheless. Do you have a partner that lifts with you?

Yea i do, we are about the same strength; i am a bit stonger, but he is taller / weighs more.

    Normally i do 115x8 125x6 135x4

    Should i do lower reps?

Just do one warmup set, then go straight to maxing.

    Something like 115 x 6-8
    then 155 x 1
    then 160 x 1
    etc, etc...

With a partner there is no fear of dropping that bish on your neck/chest. Go all out, but be sure he is attentive of what you are doing.

Im about the same weight and heaight and I found that going in reps of 8,6,4 produce larger gains. Your killing yourself with those warmup sets.
