I would offer pics but I left it at the range to send back to springfield, this is the second time i've had a plunger come out and lock up during a IPSC match, I'm throwing it up for sale as soon as its fixed.

i sent it back to get it fixed, the plunger assembly has to be press fitted, its not something you do yourself, the last time this happened I let a gunsmith do it, apparently, he is now instructing me to send it to springfield to clearance all of the parts and install oversized press fits if needed

springfield has lifetime warranty on all 1911's, so i'll let them fix it

What? What are you talking about?

Do you mean the tiny plunger in the firing pin block safety? I dunno if Springfield has a Series 80-style doodad, do they?

He's talking about the plunger tube that is between the slide stop and safety. They come loose. I had to get mine restaked and another option it to tac weld it on or screw it on.

Take it over to John Harrison in Kennesaw. He's very familiar with 1911s.

For the record, this can happen on any 1911.

Glocks are made in Smyrna, right around the corner from Kennesaw.

SA is normally really good about repairs and turnaround.

But yes, I tend to agree that a better service plan is:

    Buy a Glock
Shoot to shit out of it
    Replace springs as needed
    Shoot it more
    Replace guide rod as needed
    Shoot it more
    Replace barrel as needed
    Shoot it more
    ad nauseum

plunger tubes break, thats all there is to it. sometimes more than others. give SA a chance to make it right. They make good guns.

in related news, i must add, it has had 27,725 rounds through it, however, it has only had 350 rounds through it since the last plunger tube repair

so i am guessing that it was a poor repair

My Kimber 1911 has jammed at every IDPA match I've been in. Doing another tomorrow...If it jams, sending back to Kimber. When it gets back....Trading for the XD-40 subC i sold for the Kimber.

But it's hit money and downtime spent.
