for some reason my game just changed outta nowhere. I went from always trying and fighting to pull a closed guard to taking half or full butterfly.
I got no idea how that happened but im way comfortable with it and it almost seems like most opponents will just give it to me.
same thing with the over hooks, tameem mentioned that so I just added it to my game and it works. now I just gotta find all those other little things that people give up.

anybody elses game change outta nowhere?

yeah i've been doing rubber guard :mamoru: i know but it works for me i got long legs

i tried butterfly and it just doesn't work for me, doesn't help that my coach is a relson black belt so he plays a top-heavy game and doesn't know much about playing guard

I've been playing with a lot of butterfly/spider guard, and so long as my opponent doesn't have a 100 lb. weight advantage, it's been pretty good.

I need to learn some new stuff off my back. My training partners are catching on to my stuff.

i recently went from being a very closed guard game to spider guard and de la riva guard. I was always so scared of opening my guard and now i dont know why i waited so long!

the longer you train, the more it becomes about learning universal concepts rather than specific techniques. thats why black belts are so many steps ahead. the connections between different techniques and transitions become more and more obvious the longer you train.

ill use mission control and sometimes transition to an omoplata or just attempt a gogo for :mamoru:'s. but theres so much that i need to learn about that guard style.

i noticed that i recognize certain scramble situations and i love when i use proper hip movements to get myself into the more dominant position. cant help but :run: inside my head when i dont even know what the hell i did, but repetition developed an instinctual move.
