Introduce yourself, as much as you want to, but let us know your rank, job, base, and service.

I'm an A1C (E-3) in the USAF at Travis AFB. C-5 Galaxy Loadmaster. Basically haul whatever cargo/troops that need to go around the world. Kick ass job.

I'm currently in the Delayed Entry Program with the Marine Corps. Upon graduation from high school, in 8 days, I leave for boot camp at the MCRD in San Diego. I leave on July 5th.

My MOS is 0331, or Machine Gunner, in Infantry. I will be home from SOI for a couple of months before the unit here in my city is leaving for Iraq. I'm fucked :noes:

I think just some anti-depressants along with some new "tecniques" to control the impulses will do me fine ... I seriously dont want out of the "core" ... :hs:

I was active duty Air Force from '77-'83, with a couple of years in the reserves in the late 80's. I left active duty as SSgt. AFSC was 32252B (it has changed a few times since I was in) Tactical/Real-Time Sensor Systems Specialist. I worked on laser targeting systems on the F4 (Pave Spike), F16 and A10 (Pave Penny). Trained on, but never worked on, Low Light Level TV and Forward Looking Infra Red (C130 Gunship). I've worked with the Royal Marines, the Italian Alpine Corps, and some crazy Germain contractors who really enjoyed the hell out of seeing things blow up.

Active Duty bases included Lowry AFB, Denver, Colorado; RAF Bentwaters, Woodbridge, England; Aviano AB, Italy. I've been TDY to a few places in Scotland, a few places in Germany, the Azores, Iceland, a few places in Italy, and a few other places that I was only at long enough to breath the air and get the Red X signed off for my system.

I have an Army son (3rd ID, out of Savannah, GA) currently in his 5th month of a 14-18 month deployment in Samarra, Iraq. He's training and working with the Iraqi Commando Brigade currently assigned to Samarra. I also have another son in the Air Force (Little Rock AFB, AR) who just left yesterday for a 4 month deployment to Tallil, Iraq.

Oh... and I should be going into the Army Reserves in August (I'm too fucking old to go into Active Duty). All of this sitting back safe and sound at home while my sons get shot at sucks big red donkey dicks. I'm still thinking about what MOS I want, but I'm leaning towards something in Combat Arms.

Marine reject here, I tried to enlist in December of 2003, but was declined due to a tattoo I have. Scored a 91 on the test, passed the physical req. with flying colors. But I have an iron cross on my back, and that DQ'd me. My liason officer at MEPS was nice enough to not tell me about either, and left the job to a recruiter. I was looking to go into Intel/Crypto as an MOS.

If you really want to join, you could get the tat removed. :dunno:

...and I would be pissed as hell about it too. :squint:

I was told by the higher-ups that I could get it removed or covered but I would still only have a 50/50 chance of getting in. Also, the lead recruiter at the office I went to suggested I write my Congressman to lobby for my case, I did, and got rejected again. I used these as the basis for why my tattoo shouldn't matter:

I figured, if the US can display the symbol on the side of an Army helicopter, why can't I display the symbol below the collar of my uniform?

    It's a principle thing I guess.
