    Based on the "how much there is to learn" thread I feel like we should put together a whole thread of more advanced shit. All the stuff that helps you get that 1% better performance goes here. Hopefully we'll get some good shit and make this a sticky.

    Keep the discussion to a minimum unless you are calling bullshit which is totally fine. Just dump what you got into some bullets and I'll try to organize it



    Diet
    Eat casein (slow digesting protein) before bed. This is found in cottage cheese and night time specific protein powders, ON makes some as well. The benefit is that you get more protein through the night when you are repairing your body. Evens out your bloodsugar during the fast etc.
    The difference between pro's and amateurs is generally a food scale and planning/preparing meals for the whole week partially in advance If you don't know how many grams of protein you ate yesterday you're not going look like Arnold.
    Eat fatty nuts like almonds and cashews for snacks makes you less hungry and will add 2-3 years to your life expectancy. We can all debate the merits of 6 meals vs. 3, but adding some nuts between meals will even out your blood sugar, give you some protein, and for some reason helps you live significantly longer. Unsalted.
    Drink lots of water

    Training
    Superset calves with seated (bent knee) then immediately standing (straight leg) The calf is made up of two different sets of muscles. One works all the time, the other only works when standing. By prefatiguing the muscle that works all the time you are able to fully work the part that only works when you are standing (outer calf).
    Focus on rear power chain If you want to avoid looking like a hunched over cave man, working your back is super important. Do some rotator cuff work, external rotation, roman chair, etc along with a large focus on rows, deadlifts, rear delt etc. All of you that spent high school doing nothing but bench and curls need to balance that out or you'll have injuries later on, not to mention being small.
    Lifting with chains or bands allows you to increase resistance at the top of a movement where you're strongest
    Poop before leg or chest days


    Recovery
    Alternating hot and cold (ice) baths after workout flushes out lactic acid and improves recovery significantly. The ice constricts blood flow. When heat is then applied it hyper dilates the arteries when then speeds up blood flow, dumps lactic acid, moves protein, etc. This also kicks off the production or release of tryptophan/serotonin/melatonin and helps you sleep. So do it before bed/immediately after workout. 30 seconds to 1 minute alternating hot/cold

    Doing deadlifts while standing on a 3-4in box works wonders for speed off the floor.

    Just get one that can hold several lbs, a gram here or there doesn't matter much for accuracy, but you probably need to be able to weigh your chicken for the week which may be a lot.

    is there any proof that alternating hot/cold baths actually help recovery? same with contrast showers

    For real though, my best advice is to SIMPLIFY!!! Stop reading every article in the world, and constantly second guessing yourself based on the plethora of info you see everywhere.

    - Just eat clean, and manipulate your carb intake as necessary to your goals.
    - Do compound lifts whenever possible. Save the accessory stuff for the end of your workout if your not jacked already.
    - Sleep well and long.
    - BE CONSISTENT WITH DIET AND TRAINING.
