and it seems like every 2 days after leg day I can barely fucking walk my calves hurt so bad. Honestly I can't straighten out my leg for like 2 days after that. This is a HUGE problem because I am a teacher and obviously not sitting at a desk all day.

Any suggestions for a quick recovery from my calves feeling like they have been crushed and put back together with hot sauce?

as long as you're doing more exercises for quads/hamstrings than you are for calves, you're good. if he's got you doing 1/4 squats, leg press, then 3 different calf exercises, then that's a different story.

    Three tips.

Diet - you need to be eating enough calories and the right kind for your muscles to recover.

Stretching - Alot of pre and post workout stretching

Stick to your routine - After a while it will get much better - but you have to work through it.

FTW: I've had many deconditioned people do calf raises, 3 sets of 15 and they can't walk for days. Most of you don't realize you don't need a thousand exercises for calves to get them sore.

the best thing you can do when your legs are sore is STRETCH.

it does not help soreness but it does help to remove the lactic acid from the muscle tissue which stops the burn. You have to push through and do cardio to help your muscle get the proper amount of oxygen needed so you are not entering an anerobic state of cellular combustion.

so you're saying it would be OK for him do be doing 1/4 squats and leg press and a bunch of types of calf raises as a leg workout?

better advice than you've given in this thread :dunno: and I never said that's what he must be doing, I'm just telling him what he shouldn't be doing. And I know what gets calves sore, I've worked mine with all sorts of intensities and exercises. If you finish a leg day and your calves are sore but quads/hams aren't, something might be wrong, just thought I'd inquire.

legs are the most fun day! also the hardest... maybe I'm a masochist :dunno:

are you doing deadlifts too? that makes back day hard as well, but extremely worth it and fun if you get into it
