I found a picture online of something that I'm thinking about getting (or something similar) and I'm just curious as to what everyone would think. I'm considering it on my shoulder blade area or maybe my upper arm.

    any suggestions?

A penguin swatting the MSN butterfly? Any particular reason you favor penguins and have some sort of disdain for MSN?

Mostly because the penguin is Tux the linux "mascot" The main reason i'd be getting the tattoo isn't only because i like the picture but because it's the field i'm getting into and i have a pretty deep love for linux.

Everyone in this forum will only respond with the usual "it's your body. get it if you want. who cares what others think?"

My personal opinion, because you are requesting it, is that I would think twice before doing this. Actually, I'd think three or four times over a period of at least a year or two before doing this. I can think of a million other things in my life I love more than an operating system on a computer.

But don't listen to me. I'm sure I'll get flamed for being honest.

no, no, you're right. I asked for you opinion. It's not only the OS for the reason i'm getting it. I'm really into computers as a whole and it's the field that i'm getting into. That is more the reason behind the tattoo rather that the specific OS

Also, you're right. It's not something i'm going to jump into. I'm planning on taking about a year or so to just think about it and see if the desire fades. I've been thinking about it for a month or so but i'm going to keep thinking. It's not something i'm going to rush into for sure

Personally, I think thats a pretty sweet idea as long as you won't regret it in 15 years when Linux is gone. It has potential with a good artist.

I think it would kinda cool either on your leg or even ribcage.

No one is going to flame you for being honest.

I see no problem with getting something tattooed on you that you're passionate about.

1 month into the thought and you seem pretty passionate about it. If you still feel this way in a year, I say ink it up. Good for you for not rushing into it, but as I said, in the end it really is your skin and no one else's. I'm merely trying to prevent regret and the ol' "one year rule" is a great way to prevent that from happening.

back of your thigh, with the butterfly up on your buttcheek.

but only for my entertainment, not because it would actually look good there. but i'd totally be in for pics if you did it there!

What aspect of computers are you passionate about? In my opinion there are probably a lot better symbols and images out there to use to better represent that... I'm really just not a fan of any sort of brand or logo tattoo :o

But if you are dead set with that, I can definitely see it on a shoulder blade with the butterfly closer to the shoulder.

I'm really passionate about linux and basically moving away from microsoft. I really do agree with the logo thing, that's one of the reasons i'm thinkng about it so hard
