And it's seriously the hardest exercise I've ever done.

My legs burn worse than the first time I ever did squats when I was a noob, plus, by the time I was halfway through my set, my throat and lungs burned from breathing so heavily. And that was a set of 20 reps of walking lunges (so 10 reps per leg). GEEZ. I've never felt like that after a set of squats.

Is it just cuz I'm not used to them cuz I've never done them before, or are DB lunges really supposed to be such an ass kicker?

I know I'm weak and all, but I'm amazed at the super girly weights I've been doing lunges with.

I weigh 165-170ish and was squatting in the mid 200s for reps (ATG).

With DB lunges the most I've done is a set of 20 (10 per leg) with 30lb dumbbells. And after a few sets I have to go down to 25s, and then 20s :hs:

k i don't feel so bad now, i thought i was going to die with 10lb weights, and did about 15 per leg

are walking when you switch legs each time or are you really moving like walking forward?

Walking forward. I do 10 reps (5 per leg) and then I run out of room so I turn around and go the other way to complete the set.

i actually find bulgarian split squats to be harder... I've replaced lunges with these on leg day.

better for you perhaps but do they result in equal/more muscle growth?

I'm not disputing the claim I'm just curious. if they are then I might start doing split squats and/or lunges before full front squatting.

i do them at the end of my leg day... after a2g front squats, leg extensions, leg curls, and leg presses, I can still get about 8 per leg for a few sets.

Yesterday I got to my second set of split squats and literally collapsed at the end of it... literally, my legs gave out. It was awesome.

this one guy at the gym was giving me a dirty look while i was doing bulgarian split squats...like he's muscular i guess but the dude has no class. i watched him workout the other day and he just pulls down the weights as fast as possible and he was all over the place. the other day he was in the squat rack and he kicked a yoga ball out like halfway across the room..i hope they kick him out of the gym

I'd personally do the lunges second, after the front squats

word that makes more sense than pre-exhausting with all that other shit.

Also, will split squats yield the same benefits as lunges, or is the lunge better? I feel like it's much harder to balance with split squats, but also keeps more tension on the legs throughout the movement. Personally i feel like I get even more out of them than i do with lunges.

stop leaving your faggy yoga balls in the guys way and he won't look at you so mean anymore.

Walking is easier than strait legged imo. I quit doing them because they were so brutal... I guess I should start again

Lunges are a staple in my leg workouts. They've pretty much replaced me doing squats (mainly because squats bother my back a bit).
I prefer doing barbell lunges though.
Maybe today (leg day) i'll give DB lunges a shot though.

Try pistols. To make it a little easier and hit quads abit more, hold on to a cable (I use a band) with the opposite arm so you can lean back at the bottom.

Thank you. I was trying to explain the movement to someone.
I like using the band so that it only helps in the bottom part of the movement. Though with the blast strap, could just anchor it at hip level or lower too.
