and this from one of the people in the know
How much does it cost now? I have no 360 but I may pick one up just to mod & play 360 exclusives that I'm slightly interested in Either way, still costs less than a game so I'd say it would be worth it.
nothin on the older ones and anywhere form $10-$40 ish dollars (one time investment you can use over and over) for a piece of hardware you need on the one of the drives.
wait a few months and another method will be on file sharing sites.
ohhhh link? i have one that red ringed once and so i went and bought another one, but randomly decided to plug it in the other day and it worked fine so i might mod it and see what's up....especially if there's some sort of free softmod
It just simply takes time. It will eventually leak out or a new method will be found.
Burn one game, recoup the cost....
I was kinda pissed about having to buy a spear 3 weeks ago for my jasper but whatever 25 bucks
Seems I got in just in time too it was may 09 manufactured too
God damnit. Well, hopefully I won't be seeing any of these new Lite-Ons anytime soon.
There is a new revision of the Lite-On drive, which is what this thread is referring to. There's a 7xxx line, which is flashable by normal people like myself. Then there's the 8xxx line, which is only apparently flashable by the real geeks.
I think I'm going to mod my 360 elite for college since I'll be broke.
I love the ironing.
Ah, didn't see this thread when I linked in Twinsen's
Yeah, I got this new drive today from Amazon. Seems like every new one is going to be it from this point on. Unless you get old stock, of course.
and fyi -
Firmware released for new lite-on - however, the only way to get your key is still from foundmy.com
Does it look like foundmy.com is actually generating drive keys for customers?
Might be worth it, but there were some complaints on the xbox scene forum.
Looks like yes, but the site has horrible feedback, and no one wants to pay $42 to mod the box.
If you pay that $42, you can't exactly hop on craigslist and charge $90-100 when previously people paid $40-$50.
Yeah, it starts to get pricey. I was thinking about getting a 360 arcade and modding it like you but I guess I'll wait and see what happens this week. Free drive key would be nice.
If I do get one modded, i'd probably do it myself even thought the connectivity kit would cost me about $50.
Looks like they're making progress:
Read the thread..
Oh i've been reading it ALL the past 2 days. Just yesterday I decided that I woudl look into modding a new xbox (i knew nothing about modding at the time) and I can't believe the drama surrounding the 8000 series Lite on's.
What a fascinating community.
When a working decrypter is released I'm buying an arcade. Looks like we might not even need a probe to get the key with the new lite on's.
Waiting for the dust to settle, I ain't reading all that shit.
I think it might be over....
FreeKey released to do exactly what foundmy.com will do.
I'll be hosting everything shortly.
1 - Download and install Portio32 Package -Click here
2 - Download and and unpack Lo83info_32.exe -Click Here
3 - Connect your Liteon 83850c drive to your PC via SATA
4 - Run Lo83info_32.exe (sata port) and follow the prompts
5 - A file will be saved with a drive unique name as a .bin
6 - Use the files in this zip to accomplish this:
So if we can get the key from the output.bin using the Lo83info_32.exe and freekey programs, do we need to generate the Key.bin, Inquiry.bin and Identify.bin files in Jungle Flasher? or can we just generate a dummy.bin and insert our DVD Key into the "Firmware Tool 32" tab and just proceed with erasing the LiteOn drive using the "MTK Flash 32" tab? and then just follow the rest of the JF tutorial? (i hope i'm making sense)
