Pretty loserish IMO. I have been waiting for a 13" widescreen for like a year and a half but that blew the deal

I also don't like that on the new mbp's they lost the firewire 800...I have to use mine for a nexternal hard drive because my fw400 is used by an outobard soundcard/DAW. For what I do, the mbp just isn't an option. And yeah, losing the pcmcia slot was pretty loserish.

i've had laptops for years, never have used a pcmcia card...probably won't use an expresscard either...

kinda like the serial ports on computers...no use for them...

if you want the slot, get the mbp. just like in the past, only the pro laptops had them.

    I've never used one either.

The gate software I write relies on serial though and to my understanding a lot of pc -> hardware interfacing requires serial still (Lantronix, Aezy, PTI).

And to answer the question, yes it does bug the shit out of me, especially when I could get a pc laptop with better graphics, more ram space, and a better hd AND a pcmia slot for less money.

you can buy USB to PCMCIA adapters. :hsugh:

I've never used the card slot, but it does bother me that most laptops today don't have an RS-232 serial port. I had to blow $12 to get a USB --> RS-232 adapter, so I could consol in to the routers.
