Time to think on which pistol to buy first.

In terms of accuracy, I shoot the best with an XD or USPc.
Third would be the Sig 226
    last would be a G19.

in terms of pricing and availability, I'd say I should probably narrow it down between the Glock and XD.

Now I do like the Glock for its smaller profile, but I'm not used to the grip of it yet and I shoot some kind of horrible with it. I was looking at the XD Compact, but I've never shot it, and it looks like they only have it in .45.

Hopefully I'll be hired into the local sheriffs department by next year, so maybe that'll open up more options for me.

    Thoughts?

All good picks, you might also check out the new XDm series. <LINK> They're probably one of the most comfortable guns I've handled although I haven't had the opportunity to shoot one yet.

You can probably find a local range that would let you rent some of these to try them out, that seems like the best way to find out if you really like them or not.

    Good luck :bigthumb:

If I wasn't so deeply entrenched in 1911/HP/CZ type guns from inception, I would shoot Glocks.

The logistics are just impossible to beat.

Don't have the cash to drop on a nice 1911, the ammo too.

Thanks, I was looking at the XDm, until I realized that it wasn't on the CA approved list.

Why don't you come out and shoot a few of my glocks with the trigger jobs and grip jobs. I mean your local to glockworx you can get a glock fitted to your hand.

Your brother is mistaken, I know of a few people who got in at 19. It really depends on the department. Most local PD will have a limit of 21. LASD has the lowest age requirement that I've seen so far.

Only on paper. But you're right, depends on the department.

Yeah, but realistically, there was over 1200 applicants when I went to take my written. Times are hard, errbody sufferin'.

Good thing most of them were either too old, too fat, or too high to get the position.

The other ones were just plain stupid, and failed the written.

    That would be my point......

You'd be a fool not to take Yar up on his offer.

I'll even introduce you to some my copper friends, if your not a serious idiot which I will have to evaluate in person. Swat guys, homicide detectives, SIS, I think some of them are academy instructors or something. OC, SD Sherriffs, etc.
The Sherriffs I know are hiring.

I always joke that I would be a terrible cop because as soon as I got scared or I got upset I'm just going to start shooting. That usually makes them laugh. I guess that's a lot of paperwork.

Get a Certified Pre-Owned Sig 226. I got my from BudsGunShop, and it was just over $500 IIRC. Also, I'm only 20 and own a handgun, but then again, I don't like in Commiefornia.

Not really if you kill them. It's actually more paperwork to arrest them and book them into jail around here.
