In anticipation of a.) a ban, b.) democrat in whitehouse 2008 and another AWB

and just for shits and giggles

I like the Barrett 82A1CAL and it seems to hold the best resale, but the Cobb Manufacturing BA50 is looking promising

I about got an AR-50 but bought some pistols instead. Would I consider it again? Maybe. Is it a practical weapon that would get shot more than twice a year? Nope.

well, for practicality, its a stupid choice, but I want one any way :big grin:

my advice, go the M82A1 if you can afford it, you know you are getting quality there.

    There are also:
    AR-50
    Serbu BFG-50
    Ferret 50

and a bunch of others. One interesting idea that looks good is get yourself a single shot AR lower, and then put a 50 upper on it.

EDIT: if its a mantle pice, go Barrett

the serbu looks like i made it from home depot parts
    [IMG]

i almost definitely require a magazine, and bolt action (cobb makes the FA50T, which is basically AR-style cocking/reloading, and full semi)

The Barret holds resell, the were about $4500 two years ago, now they're almost $8k- but the Cobb uses AR-15 style parts:

Parts that interchange with mil-spec AR15 parts:

    -Trigger and trigger spring.

-Safety selector switch, detent pin and spring.

    -Trigger and hammer pins.

    -Pistol grip and screw.

    -Butt stock assembly.

    -Trigger guard and pin.

    -Magazine catch and spring.

    -Lower receiver extension tube.

I don't like the idea of having a complete AR-15 lower, because that means that its single shot bolt action, and like i said, I want magazine

" Our .50bmg rifles when supplied with a suppresser should NEVER be fired without the suppressor

or muzzle brake properly attached to the barrel.

Please be aware that the suppressor will produce recoil similar to that of a 12GA 3" Hi-Shock Slug

round when firing full powered ball ammunition. BUT when firing our new sub-sonic .50bmg rounds the felt recoil

    is similar to an AR in .223 caliber." :eek3: :eek3: :eek3: :eek3:

I've fired both the Cobb and Barrett. While they are both good guns, personally I would get the Barrett.

Yeah, its all that "laying around, waiting for the perfect shot". Cost went way up on ghillie suits because of all the material they're using.

My friend had an Barrett M82A1 and it was a blast to shoot... then needed money and sold it along with his H&K MP5SD. :wtc:

The shop beside our store had one of these. I never got to fire it, but said it sounded a little quieter than a .308.

buying the gun isnt really a problem.. its just, I have no place to shoot it.. I dont know of any range around here more than 100 yards.. not to mention the price of ammo.. of course I'd have to reload, but even reloading them you're not going to get less than a $1 a round

i heard recoil isnt bad at all on most 50's, its the damn concussion from the muzzle brake..

just dont sit to the side of a barrel when one is being shot

    :werd:

Plus the cost of quality optics, and most people lack even the basic knowledge needed to accurately shoot and any sort of real distance.
