Well i got out of the Corps back in July and have missed it for awhile now. The other day i got a letter in the mail saying how they needed us back for our experience and blah blah, and also mentioned that the reenlistment bonus was still available (80% of it, ~24k) which was just the icing on the cake i guess. Me and the wife talked it over and ive made up my mind to come back in.

I went down to the recruiting office yesterday and got the ball rolling. I'm going to MEPs on friday to do all of that gay shit again and should be back in within a couple of weeks. I'll have to do Recruiters assistance for a few weeks until i get my orders from the monitor, ah well. One question that i have though, I've been out for less than 180 day..so i get to keep all of my time in grade correct? I should be picking up Sgt on the 1st if so :noes:

Keep us posted. I have until March to change my mind and not lose 19 months of TIG.. I was about a quarter away from Sgt, but decided it was time to gtfo. The full time school thing and part time video games seems to be good right now :mamoru:

Get out on Friday November 16.

    I was seriously contemplating re-enlisting.
But could not make up my mind about a Lat move or what to do.
So, I decided to get out and finish up with school.

I am sure I will miss it and might end up going back, like you are doing.

Good luck to you and let us know how it goes.

Well MCO 1130.80, which is dated in 2002 (only thing i could find), states that if your out from 91-180 days you retain 1/2 of your TIG, and after 180 your DOR becomes your reenlistment date. Hopefully that is the case now as well.

The $10K bonus (admin gets shit) and the next rank was a little tempting.. but after looking at my options, I could make a lot more outside in the civilian side. Plus, I got a little tired of all the bullshit.. too much to even bother getting into here. It's actually nice having some control of my life again. Nobody can tell me where I have to be or where I'm gonna live for the next 2-3 years and have to move again. It's nice!

Considering a blue to green. I've thought about it for a while, but lately my desire to be back in uniform has been killing me.

i would much rather be in the air force. but they arent accepting prior service and my wife is a marine anyways, makes things easier. so now im just waiting on all the paper work to get approved by HQMC and come back. I'm guessing around another 2 weeks before I have to go back up to meps and raise my hand.

The AF will take you into the reserves, and you can transfer into active duty from there. My buddy just did it, and kept his rank from the Navy (E-5).

I asked one of the online recruiter dudes in the chat room they have, and they said that you can not transfer to active duty from the reserves, you have to wait until your reserve contract is up and then attempt to reenlist to active duty.
