didn't even notice!
sorry. it'll probably happen again.
I'll be getting pretty pissy once we head out too here in a few weeks.
oh wow the details!!
is this just a buildup of a bunch of things or one moment in particular?
hey me too
Yeah, I think the Air Force managed to destroy my ability to cope. ALS is not the pleasure cruise I thought it would be.
hows the hand
I will cut you.
buildup of a deployment's worth of need for payback, stupid decisions NCOs make while on missions, Army bureaucracy, etc.
During missions I am either in the lead Husky (single-seat vehicle almost always on point during IED defeat missions) or I'm the TC in the lead gun truck (RG-31). When we take fire, I am almost never the one that fires back. When I'm in the Husky, unless someone calls out that they see an RPG, my job doesn't change at all. I am there to find IEDs and any other threat to mobility on the route. I can't count the number of times I hear small arms fire thunking into the side of my vehicle while I'm inching forward, concentrating 100% on the suspicious block of concrete I think might be a disguised IED. I call it out on the radio and put it out of my mind. It's someone else's job to shoot the fucker or give me better cover.
One mission we were on a couple of months ago, a car sped up to a parked Iraqi Army vehicle, tossed a satchel charge in the hatch, and sped away. One gunner called out Positive ID to his TC. His TC told him NOT TO SHOOT.
And the icing on the cake came this week: my request to extend has not been approved, and the deadline has passed. How in the motherfuck do you not approve a request to extend in a combat zone? I know all of our routes by heart. I know what to look for, I know how to defeat most of the shit we find, and I can pass on all of this knowledge and experience to the gaining unit when they get here. WHAT. THE. FUCK. The TOC says that the unit that will replace us is at 110% of authorized capacity. SO WHAT... They will lose men during premob and they will lose more men after they get in-country. How do they not realize this?

That's shitty brother....I appreciate the Engineers like yourself who go out before we do on our routes, ensuring it's as safe and clear as it can be....and so far, you guys have done a superior job for our unit at least....i know it's not much...but i know my unit appreciates the fuck out of you guys. It is a crock that they won't let experience guys like yourself extend for a few extra months, keeping up the good work and continue to train your future replacements.
so theyre more worried about not having bunks for everyone than they are about people getting proper training to not get fucking killed? thats awesome, id be pissed too
I don't know. It could be something as simple as their Readiness NCO being a douche.
Thanks. A lot. :hugot:
Ranger is suffering form SRS....
Sperm retention syndrome
It is pretty easy, don't get me wrong, the matierial is just SO DAMN BORING and staying awake is a virtue. Paperwork for profanity is a little crazy too considering our class is FULL of maintainers. I thought it'd be more fun and less suck. I was wrong.
Ok, I took that the wrong way then, I thought you were saying ALS was hard for you.
Definitely not. Took five classes while I was in sevel level CDCs and still finished them in three weeks. I think I can handle this.
I'm thinking it. Right now.
just take a knife from her and then hand it back blade first
I know what you mean.
Best reply evar....
