OK so I really want to take Photography class for school. I was looking at the beginners course and it says a 35mm camera is required.

Is that a film or digital camera?
Any links or info on them?
Any recommendations on which I should pick up?

I'm thinking this is gonna be a film camera, but i really don't know. If it IS a digital camera I want oen that is compatible with windows AND mac, and that isn't too bulky but is really good. Something below 800$ would be good. ANY HELP??

I said above under $800. Or is that not enough?

I have a digital camera and camera phone, and taking pictures is fun and interesting to me, just not sure if I wanna drop a ton of money on something I am not sure I want to do, so I'll stay at about $800.

im going to sleep, but if you want to spend 800 dollars on a SLR camera

try looking at Used Nikon F100s/F4.

    they are indestructable.

    look into a canon f1 too...about 300-500 bucks

or you can go the cheap route and get a ae-1...it'll run about 200 or cheaper for an outfit

that sounds like kind of a good range for me. If I like them I'll end up getting a better camera, I just want to try it out.

Where would a good place to buy it from be? We have a few Kits Cameras over here, would that work? Or would online be better?

What are some accesories for this camera, and what do they do? How much do they run? I love accesories for my stuff :hsd:

the f1's keep their value pretty well too. its was a top of the line camera back in its day..

you'll need some FD lenses for it.

I'd rather just buy a new one, no eBay or anything. Sorry.

Any nikon lenses will work with any nikon body, minus autofocus/autoaperture when switching between extremes.

Buy nikon. They are far more interchangeable for your purposes, and are relatively inexpensive. just go to your local camera shop and ask them about a cheap manual nikon and a lens to go with it.

    Canon FTW...

Pick yourself up a rebel G2 or something similar. You can get them for $80, and while they are basic SLR's, they are not junk.

They take canon EF lenses, so once you learn more, you can easily upgrade the body to something nicer.

In that class you will learn how to develop your own film, and the basics of composistion, etc, along with what all the controls on the camera do.

Personally, I'm a Canon guy but Nikon has it's own benefits. I would suggest the Rebel K2 w/ 28-90 USM kit lens: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...f=pd_bbs_5/104-3173356-2143166?_encoding=UTF8

But you can get the body and we can help you choose a different lense depending on what you plan on shooting: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000CCSDS/ref=dp_variations_1/104-3173356-2143166?_encoding=UTF8

The nice thing about most of the modern lenses will be that once you upgrade to better SLRs or DSLRs, you'll be able to use the same lense.
