so i'm playing adult league baseball this summer

    I'm cutting currently and I'm thinking this is detrimental to my skills in baseball. Although I may be faster and/or quicker, I play catcher and speed isn't completely crucial. The thing I'm worried about is losing my hitting strength.

    Pros to cutting prior to summer:
    -lower BF (aesthetic, i'd be lying if that wasn't one of my goals)
    -quicker on the basepaths and behind the plate

    Cons
    -lost hitting strength
    -can't think of anything else

    do the baseball players of F&N have any advice to offer?

    Is this fast-pitch or something?

    In the league I just finished, homeruns where limited to 2 per game :hsugh:, so it was usually more beneifical to just make contact :dunno:

    Speed seemed to wreak havoc on some teams(mainly throwing errors).

    yea it's major league rules and everything, nine innings, no mercy rule, all that good stuff. it's just for old guys, guys out of college, and high school stars that never went on to play college (me :hs: )

    i forgot that not all of the catchers and outfielders have the greatest of arms, so maybe i could just continue cutting, get faster, and try to stretch out extra base hits and SB's :dunno:

    oh and to the 2 homeruns per game, major :hsugh: thank god we don't have that.

    Just cut, you'll be fine, most swinging power comes from the hips, so make sure you do hip work

    any good solid exercise with weighted resistance. some things comming to mind..

    land mines, cable pull down, medicine ball work..

    work the hell out of your legs, upper back, midsection and forearms. And oh yeah, do plenty of external rotation work.

    Strength isnt everything while hitting, as long as you have good bat speed you should be able to hit the ball far enough, and it is all about placing the ball.
