    I haven't owned a rifle before.

I got a shitload of questions:
    1. What do I need to provide to purchase a rifle?
    2. I live in NYC (Manhattan) but my license is still CA. Is that a problem?
    3. I don't own a car. How would I be able to transport the rifle via public transportation to Bucks County, PA? I have a few buddies that live there and I want to go shooting with them from time to time.

Can I just buy a rifle case and hop on the bus with two boxes of ammo? :o

    (probably not I think heh)

My suggestion, move. I'm on LI but not really sure what the process is for rifles in NYC. You will need a NY drivers license or state issued ID to buy.
Wont be able to transport rifle and ammo in same case either.

But I could transport two separate cases, right?

That would be fine as long as NYC doesnt have any regulations reguarding transporting long arms that differs from the regular NY State laws.

Yeah I would go for a discrete case, not something that says winchester or remington on the side. I got a guitar case I'm going to convert to an AK and several mags case :wiggle:

Those work great. I was thinking about doing something with a briefcase once I get my underfolder. For a Mosin I don't think you could beat the guitar case idea for discreteness.
