I sat down with my coach today to finally talk about fighting. I have been training with him for a total of 2 years, but there was a large gap of a whole year in there... so it was more like 8 months on and off (lazy), year break after getting married, and now I've been training hard 5 days a week for 4 months.

He told me he wanted to take me down to the MMA organizations he knows in Ohio, but he wants me to be ready. So we talked about training hard for another 6 months and entering some grappling tournaments to get my feet wet, then looking for a fight around March.

That gives me some time to get my weight down. Right now I'm at 220. I need to get down to 210-ish by December 3rd so I'm not in the Superheavyweight/Unlimited division at the next Michigan tourney. It's only gi, which I don't like. But it's competition, and my first tourney, which I need. I want to get down to 190-ish between then and March so I can fight at 185. I began my journey at 250, so it's been and will be a tough road.

Right now I'm training 5 days a week in BJJ, CSW, Boxing, Muay Thai, and some Savate (mainly just for a class in that slot and conditioning). I'm also probably going to take some private lessons from one of the more advanced guys at our gym in MMA. He's a great grappler and has fought local Shooto matches. Only $30 an hour too as opposed to $100.

So wish me luck guys. 6 months and I'll be stepping into the cage for the first time. :noes:

Also, what is a good online journal site or software? My coach wants me to keep a daily record of my workouts, in a fair amount of detail. I don't really want to keep it here on OT because I want him to have access to it. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm planning on bulking to 200 ish then cutting to 185 for fights in late winter and all of spring. That would be crazy if we fought.

He also said he would rather me not fight at Roop's, because it wasn't sanctioned. Maybe in the future for a tune up, but for not to just train till March and look for a fight in Ohio.

Maybe MMA will get santioned in Michigan soon and we'll be happy.

So anyone have a good online blog site? Or should I just use some software on server space and get someone to make me my own site?

I think we are going to start training for it, we should have about that many from our school I think. I plan on losing 2 in a row :mamoru: , because I suck at Gi BJJ. I'm more a fan of the NoGi Submission Wrestling.

    Where do you train?

My new Atama gi has no patches, just the embroidery on the sides. I'll put a big OT patch on the back so you know it's me.

Btw if any of you are interested, Erik Paulson is coming to our school at the end of October. I think it's $140 pre-registered. 2 days, probably 4 sessions. I should have info tomorrow if anyone is serious about going.

In general wrestling is very strong in both states in both high school and college. They tend to dominate the nation.

I'm hoping to get my blog running soon, and I'll be updating it daily. I already did that on my log here on OT, but rather than focus on lifting and being vague about my MMA training I will be going more into detail about my days workouts and how I feel about my progress.

Hopefully I'll get pics and eventually video up as well. My log here on OT has already really motivated me these past few months, I'm sure this will be just as successful.

We feature a lot of first time fighters at the show that I help promote. We're about a 6 hour drive from you though. Let me know if you're interested. Here's the web flyer from the last show that was in July. We'll have another one soon, we are doing about 4 per year right now.
