I'm selling the old A4 before I leave. When I get there, one of the first things I'll be doing is car shopping. Anything I should be checking out? Keep in mind I'm only an E-3 in the USAF, so no M5s or anything that extravagant.

:werd: to the A3/S3... I love those things... Or you could go STi, I got a ride in a lightly-modded WRX owned by a guy I work with this weekend. Holy shit that thing is fast, I can only imagine what an STi feels like.

Germany is great. I lived in Holland for a year, amsterdam, and went to Germany and surrounding countries in the weekends.
    Gotta love the highways!
Anyways, remember that cars are alot more expensive to buy and to maintain over there, you also pay taxes up the ass. Damn euro's!

Anyone have any experience with buying a car in Germany? I know you have to buy it US-spec, but what are the costs like?

with the mark, it was comparable or a bit more than in the USA, mostly because they were made there and didnt have to be shipped. i have no idea how it'll be with the euro, im assuming probably pretty similar or a bit less than US prices currently.

Don't get any Alfa-Romeo. However beautiful it may look, I know people who've run them and had nothing but trouble in terms of reliability.

    My opinion, get a WRX.

I'm gonna buy a car built to American specs so I can bring it home with me after my tour in Germany is done, so no Vauxhalls, etc.
