there's a free internet cafe, but access to just about everything is limited.

it's hot, but I'm pretty sure I will be wishing for this "hot" weather after I get to Iraq.

I have revised my impression of Army chow since I got here. This chow sucks serious donkey balls. Serious.

This unit I'm with loves to smoke you for no reason. Good stuff. APFT will be a breeze after all this pushing. :mamoru:

I got a call from the Governor, Lt. Governor, and the state Adjutant General before I left. They all said Hi. :wavey:

No gym for home. Gotta run. Say hi to Jody. :wavey:

Deploy ~67 days from when I got here.

No booze. In fact, I have confirmed with higher authority that my Company has won the Suck Lottery. We wake up every day at 0400. From 0430 (PT) to 2200 we train. This is a change from when we first arrived, when we were training from 0400 to 2300. Smoking us for any/no reason at all by our chain of command is encouraged and sometimes required. Other Engineer Companies roll out of their racks at 0730 and they knock off at 1700. Not us. And there is not supposed to be any "private time" until lights out at 2200. So if you want to wash your clothes or do anything else you'll be operating on less sleep. This is coming directly from 4th Cav. For about a week straight I had an average of just under 4 hours sleep. Good stuff. So we take what we can where we can. For example, there's a guy from my VTARNG unit that is deploying with me that needed to get on mypay for some pay issue he's having. Volunteering to be a battle buddy to hit up the internet cafe ftw! :mamoru:

I have been tagged as the coolest old dude in the Company. :squint:

We've sent home 4 or 5 soldiers that have no business being in the military. Fat fucks, mostly. Oh - and apparently Jody wasted absolutely NO time at all when this company left their home station. By the time these guys started getting mail from home there were a handful of registered letters with divorce/custody/child support shit hitting the fan. Two guys had their kids taken away by ex'es who had forged their signatures on custody papers. One of them is leaving in the morning on some kind of emergency leave so he can meet a court date on Monday. One guy found out the week after we got here that his girlfriend is pregnant. This guy is one of the weirdest fucks I've ever seen. His kid will have an interesting life.

Anybody know if there is a regulation that talks about any kind of sleep plan for use during training? Or any kind of guidelines for how much sleep soldiers will get when not engaged in actual combat operations?

    cliffs: wtf :420:

4hrs of rest for 8hrs of work. I'll dig up the reference. Try to stick with US labor standards for rest during that time (*and/or based on heat index) two 15 minute breaks for 8hrs or 1, 1hr lunch.

No, but recommendations for stupid shit like this. There's no need for 120hr work weeks pre-deployment.
