So I'm arguing with this dude about calories.

    several PLers eat like shit and gain alot of weight and coincidentally strength.

    Yeah, but power lifters don't generally have the goal to be cut like the guy who started the thread. He wants to do a bulk cycle, then a cut cycle.

    It was my contention that, since he wants to have a low body fat% when he's done, he should bulk as cleanly as possible.

    Eating like shit will cause you to gain "weight" but you are better off eating cleanly if the goal is to add LBM. Also, I doubt this guy really needs to eat 5k to gain weight.

    i'm not saying it's the "right way" but in fact some people dirty bulk and believe it works.

    You can get away with eating dirty if your on a ton of gear and you will still add LBM. Dirty bulking the natty way isn't the best thing. I, Klown and Fatdude all found out the hardway when we added way to much fat.

    If he can't eat enough clean food to gain weight, bring on the junk!

    steak, sweet potatoes, milk, eggs, etc...


    Bulking on clean food is possibly but it requires more planning and it is much easier if you can cook large amounts of food ahead of time.

    :werd: I have no trouble bulking cleanly, I just love to eat and have a massive apatite... I'm the only one in my family that isn't at least 50 pounds overweight :(

    He just found a way to be able to eat enough for him to gain weight. The gains he will see with his way of eating won't be the same as if he was eating whatever you call clean because pizza is mostly fat and carbs, a little bit of protein while the chicken breast is only protein.
