would everything be exactly the same as it was before the format? I would do the copying using the terminal from the OSX install CD. I would use ditto to copy everything to an external drive and back again after a reformat.

The reason for this is that I need to reformat because a boot camp of Vista mucked up the partition tables and I want to get the new parallels working and that would requiring redoing the partion tables via a format.

DO you know of another program that will do that? Netboot isn't UB... And is there an option when installing OSX to just use the disk image?
