So I'd like honest opinions from people who have done it... P90X, does it work?

I was planning on buying the DVD set (on ebay for $50), after I tried to find it here and did but all the links were dead (went to pirate bay and have been having problems with getting it as well so I figured I'll fucking buy it).
I wouldn't ask usually but its $50 so I figured I'd ask if you guys have had good results.

And... If you recommend it and got good results
What should I expect? What should I do to be prepared? (before/during/after)

my friend who's i'm going down to St Lucia with in june is on it - and he definitely has good results.

before starting it, he hadn't worked out in almost 8 months. He's lost 25lbs so far, and is looking great.

The premise is that you "shock" your body by changing things up - trying to eliminate plateaus. First month you'll eat 60/20/20, second month 40/40/20, third 50/30/20.

I havent seen the dvds, but i've seen the results - and it's so far so good.

but that being said - i've got pretty much similar gains and i haven't spent a penny on and DVDs

It's a shit load of calisthenics everyday. It's not gonna not "work" but you don't really need DVDs to do a bunch of different kinds of pushups.

I downloaded it awhile back and scanned a couple of videos... doesn't look like anything that special - not much different than a routine you could find in a fitness magazine. Yes it'll work just like anything else as long as you stick to it and a diet.

I actually tried Ab ripper x last night and wasn't all that impressed with the ab workout. Basically look up 11 different ab exercises and do 25 reps of each - same concept.

If you follow the program and eat according to the nutrition plan you will increase lean body mass and decrease fat without a doubt.
Its the same as if you took up weight lifting and cardio and ate right.

You choose which form you want to do it in.

Set a goal, look around online and find a suitable routine/program to try. Try it for a few months, if it's not doing much for you, try something else.

you could ask one of the 50 people who made a commitment to do P90x and update a big thread on it with their progress...

oh wait you can't ask them because they all quit lol

seems like it would help you shed fat assuming you're eating good. probably not the best way to go if you're looking to build a decent amount of mass though.

I think it's more of a weight loss/toning program (regardless of what the guy preaches "8 to 10 for gain, 12 to 16 for tone")

    I'm 6'1 265 - I'd like to tone/lose weight - I have mass already.
Well I'll check into it ... my buddy has an FTP server...
    Say what?

no offense but if you're asking these kinds of questions what you have is probably not 'mass' but rather just fat.

    None taken.
However I cut down last year to 245 and over the winter I kinda bulked (lifted big and ate semi-clean) to 270.
I wanna get down to 230ish but be LEAN.

do you lift currently with free weights? i think you'd see better results getting on a good weight lifting routine revolving around mostly free weights and throwing in cardio after lifting and/or on your days off.

    dont buy it.

but do get it somehow. i did it. except i only did monday wed fri. no cardio. fixed diet. worked pretty good man, my abs started showing very well.

but this is only designed for if you were fit at one point before and not a complete fat ass. if you were fit and good and slacked and got a little fat, this is perfect for you.
