    nice lens, 1800$ ouch.

You can get a 18-200 VR for 850$CAD... but of course it,s not a 2.8

you really need the 2.8? it's awesome, but I hope you have other lenses unless you always need more than 70!

I would practically give someone my 9+ Nikon 8008S w/ 50mm f1.8 and Vivitar Series I 70-200 f2.8 macro manual lens (which has actually nice glass) and flash.

i have the 18-200, but in contrast there is a world of difference, in feel, weight stability. also ive been shooting mostly in film in the last year so the lack of compatablility with the DX lens doesnthelp that much. well with the vignetting and what not.

I agree, the extra stops at that high of range would save a humongus amount of pictures for me :wtc:

:hs: i would too but a photography student = primarily film.
ive been shooting with a F60 for a few years now which is lightyears ahead of anything the other students are working with, but the controls piss the shit out of me on it compared to the D200. plus other things like the slowest focusing motor evar ftl.
