I had gotten subway and a gatorade and started to walk out the door, putting on my hat as I went outside. Then I was putting my subway inside the bag with the gatorade (so I only had to carry one) and someone hits me in the arm as I walk by. I turn around and it's a major, a pilot. He just stands there at attention waiting for me to salute him as if I don't CLEARLY have both hands full. The sub falls out of my hand and hits the ground and I salute him, and he says "thanks" and walks off. :ugh2:

Turns out this guy is a real prick to alot of other guys on the flightline too.

Why the fuck do some officers have to fuking rub it in your face like they're better than you? I have a couple family friends that are heavy pilots and they never go out of their way to get saluted, and if your hands are full it's no biggie..... the same with almost all other officers I've talked to. Why is it this select bunch that needs the ego boost of someone going out of their way to salute them?

I fucking PRAY I launch out this jackass one day, fucking disrespectful douchebag

What would have happened if you didn't salute him?

If I saw him, didn't have any reason not too and just didn't do it some guys might have a fuss, or at the most give an LOC or something. If I was a dick to him about it and disrespecting the rank maybe an LOR or higher if they felt like pushing it :dunno:

It's not that I wasn't trying to evade him, I was busy and I think he just wanted to look like a "badass" with all the other flight-suit inserts walking around with him :greddy:

I hate assholes like that... Though most of the officers I've run into are a lot more laid back than most of the 1st class petty officers...

If my hands are full, I acknowledge the officer by making eye contact and saying an appropriate salutation.

I've only had one officer in my 17 year career call me out on a salute with my hands full. As I walked passed him with a box full of files, he said, "I don't rate a salute?" I stated, "Sir, yes you do rate a salute, when my hands aren't full" and kept walking.

Ive worked with fighter crew chiefs before and from what Im told most of the pilots are treated like gods and are needy for attention. Next time ask him to hold your stuff for you and then salute him

Sounds like my best freind's friend. He was just commissioned in the Army through ROTC and he's the bigget shitbird ever, I couldn't imagine him leading anyone into battle.

Do enlisted members of a certain service (i.e. Marines) have to salute and show the same respect to officers of a different service (i.e. Army)?

The only time a Marine won't have his cover on is he is indoors or is on a detail working outdoors where he/she can dress-down.

his point is that when your on a detail you are not required to salute and you only salute indoors when reporting to a board and shit

so instead of being a jackass maybe you should learn your military customs and courtesys

Only happened one time in the 14 years I've been in. As I'm walking down the street on Camp Hansen Okinawa, some dickhead 2ndlt from clear across the street and clearly 33 steps away says, "Excuse me?" I'm like "wha?"

Return the favor to him, when you see his hands full, salute him. If im not mistaken they have to return it. My hubby used to do that to all the cocky ass butter bars in our old unit :mamoru:

get a bunch of people and space yourself out just enough so he has to salute everyone seperately.
