In reaction, shortly afterward, I spiked my camera off of the floor for being an idiot and taking pictures of her instead of watching her :o :noes:.. I over reacted but I was pissed at myself :(

She was leaning over my guitar, and she fell forward, pivoted on the guitar and hit her face on the carpeted floor (which is just a shag area rug over a hardwood floor, so it's pretty hard.. She probably only fell like 6"-10", but

My wife was like "Marc she's fine, it's not you're fault, she's going to fall"..

SOooo my Sony DSC-H1 is pretty much useless, it still boots,. but the lens came off the track, it wont retract or zoom past 1.9 x, also the battery door is all misaligned and the case is cracked...

Looks like I'm looking for a new camera, perfect time to move into the DSLR genre.

Whats a good entry level DSLR and WHY? I know the answers are going to be Nikon D40/60, Canon Rebel XTi etc.. but why pick those over other ones? what's the best value for the money??

I'm very familiar with manual settings, so I'm not a complete noob, I shot in manual ALL of the time on my Sony...

    And, for hilarity to insue:

I was taking a picture when she fell, I hit the shutter, she started to fall, the focus light finished, and I was picking her up when the picture flashed...

You can totally see why I wasn't pleased with myself considering her angle of attack:

Any DSLR on the market today will take great pictures with even the kit lens. I'd suggest playing with some and seeing which feel the best in your hands. Nikon and Canon are the obvious top two, but if you have nothing invested in lenses, then you might also give Pentax, Sony or Olympus a try. [/camera advice]

When my son was 3-4 months old I was holding him while doing something on the computer. He somehow grabbed a mechanical pencil and poked himself in the cheek, just millimeters away from his left eye. I freaked out, but my wife was really calm about it. [/negligent father story]

That's an awesome shot. Funny stories too, my kid has done some of the same stuff.

Lighting details on the shot? Also, is that seamless paper?
