i've been thinkin of looking into a use truck to mod to hell, my gut instinct would say tacoma but for some reason i see many more modded s-10s around and the only modded tacomas are lifted mud runners instead of street machines. what would be a good start?

eh... my family has a base tacoma at its a truck... i've driven an s10 once... but it was lowered and had stuff done to it...

i see the same tacoma as mine at the mall sometimes... lowered with tip and rims... not bad looking

i figured that... the only tacoma i've driven is ours... its a 4x2 and auto... what would you be getting? base, dohc or prerunner?

wonder if the supercharger would do any good on my tacoma... my accord is more responsive and seems to have more torque than the truck... but then again... the truck is made for hauling shit....

not sure what to get, probly a Xcab, ummm i don't really need 4x4 but it wouldn't hurt to have, a 5 speed tranny, and something big and torqy, not sure if the v6 or the I4 engine is best to mod.

depending on how much you watn to spend id go with an S10 and swap in a vette or f body motor parts are realy cheap for S10s the main cost woudl be the motor assuming you are doing the labor

the old LT1 swap eh? blah too much money, i am thinking of spending under 10k. perhaps 7k on the truck and maybe 1k on mods.

I remember on the older pre-Tacoma trucks you used to be able to swap a GM 350 in them with a certain kit. I used to have a 93 ext. cab 4x4 and a buddy of mine told me who was a knowledgable Toyota guy. Not sure about it though. But if you don't want to do an engine swap this is the way I see it.

You want a street machine right? Then forget 4x4 get a 4x2. The S-10 would be easiest to do because there are probably more products for it. But if you want something not alot of people have get the Tacoma. I would suggest a Prerunner simply because they look cool and have the 4x4 height clearance. Get the V-6, more HP to start with. Then depending on what upgrades you want buy what you need. If you only are spending 1K on mods you can forget a superchrger, they will run anywhere from 2-4K.

Get the S-10!! Thats my vote. There are way more performance parts for the 4.3 Vortecs (if thats what youre going to get). The S-Series trucks have much potential for high performance, and very easy to customize for show.

There's also something to be said for the Ranger (4.0). In the process of looking for stuff for my Explorer, I've found that there is a good amount of aftermarket to it, I've found sites with parts to replace everything from the heads to the cam.

if you want to leave it relatilely stock go with the 'yota with the blower

but if you want to mod it heavily (witch you said you did) go with the s-10...I got 320 hp + 360 lb/ft out of my 4.3L

    my $.02
