Like a couple revolvers on a gun belt and a lever action of some sort. Any online resources on this stuff? I have no idea where to start

SASS has lot's of good links and info.
I bought an EMF a couple years ago. Neat little gun. Had to do some minor work to get it to run well though.

Everything was BP up until the late 1880s if you were on the cutting edge of tech, and in some really poor rural areas it was still pretty common until about WW2.

I think I'll avoid that. Trying to decide what caliber to go with.

Me too actually. Seems like the ultimate long term end of the world as we know it survival package. IMO you'll do best looking into 357 or 44 magnum, just because they're so common. And maybe get a 454 casull that can feed 44 spec and 44 mag if you really want to kick ass and chew bubble gum.

I've been drooling over getting a Marlin 1894SS for a while now...

Why would you pick one of those as an end of the world round/gun?

The cartridges are relatively easy to reload, and very popular.
They have a wide range of acceptable loadings (and the guns take varying lengths - a 460 rifle will take 45 Colt and 454 Casull rounds (I was wrong before)).
Lever actions and revolvers are generally absurdly reliable.
You can get a semiauto handgun (admittedly, the deagle is a huge bitch) in 357 and 44 mag.

Note that I don't actually shoot any of these. Closest I have is a marlin 336 lever action 30-30. I just want them to improve my collection.

A 460s&w revolver can also shoot 454 Casull which can also shoot 45colt which can also shoot 45 schofield. So a 45colt revolver like most cowboy guns can shoot 45 colt and 45 schofield but can't shoot 454 casull or 460s&w. But a 454 Casull revolver can also shoot 45 colt and 45 schofield. The 460 S&W revolver can shoot all of the above calibers.

NONE of the 460/454 casull revolvers can ever safely shoot 44mag or 44spec.

See second post. It was too early in the morning for me to be posting about calibers.
