    Strobist Info:
X1600 shot into 86" PLM cam right around 60 degrees rear of model
Slight fill with sb800 in front at a really really low power.
Used existing silver wall as a reflector, cam left

I really like the look and light quality of it.

    here is the setup shot.

Obviously i am not using it for its intended use here, but it works wonders.

Hmmm the image you posted seems like she isn't lit up enough. It's a nice shot, but it isn't popping enough for me. She doesn't stand out from the rest of the photo it seems.

Almost seems like a street light had lit her up and you shot at a really high ISO. The one with you in it pops a lot more.

Unless this is what you were going for, I don't personally see anything... unique... about it.

Any other shots from the set? I'm willing to bet you have some fantastic shots that you have not posted.

Yeah, I saw it on Flickr just before you posted this. It looks like your SB was way too low (power). I do like the blues but she needed more light.

yep i was goign with something a bit different, it was more of an experiement, kinda like a dark cowl or something i had seen in vogue or some shit. There are plenty of normally exposed images though :) They will be coming right up, i did two looks with her

you said "Obviously i am not using it for its intended use here, but it works wonders."
what is the intended use of it?

is it a shoot through umbrella?

its intended use is typically as a main/key in a single light config, or in high fashion or catalog work.

My model is teh silver 86" umbrella, so its not a shoot thru, but rather a very efficient reflective umbrella.

I like her expression in 1.

and its a little more interesting than the same same fully lit face in zone vi.

those I know you can do in your sleep and show me nothing new lighting wise.

2 is also excellent, but I find myself looking into her eyes more in 1. there's more there.
