I came out in 1994....so it's nothing new...

i get "we will always love you, but this is not the life I wanted you to have, the life I prayed for...."

wtf? STILL? I would have thought she'd be over that now...

then I get "remember the past relationships you had..."

so my brothers can date psycho women but for me it is proof that I should not see people because of a few bad eggs?

    I don't get it...I guess I expected too much :(

I could probably give you a few supporting words but only by being really harsh. Just remember if your parents see fault in you it's their fault, not yours.

I don't get that comment, is she telling you not to date anyone ever?

    You think?

Parents will do or say just about anything to get what they want.. modify parents to read people and you have the reason this world is so fucked up.

I have a 19 years old friend who has a boyfriend, goes to University but still has to live with his parents. He came out to them "accidentally" (I believe a stupid brother was involved in the process) but they do not accept him. They always try to act as if it was a temporary thing.

He has a lot of arguments with them, has to see his boyfriend and some friends without them knowing, and such. Recently they had another argument, after months of coming out of the closet, and his mother still says they don't accept his way of life nor his boyfriend. His life is being reduced to University and home, except the rare few moments when he can "escape" to see him.

It really sucks when parents don't accept this. I'm lucky my parents accept me and accepted my first and only boyfriend when I had one. Still it really bugs me when I hear cases like yours...

I hope dating goes well... and I hope to see you soon, as lately I don't go on AIM much.

You're reacting to not meeting your parents expectations. You're feeling anger because they don't approve of your choices. It's not thier fault.

You've got your perspective on the world and they have thiers. If they don't match, find common ground and/or get over it. You're the one that fit's into less than 10% of the population.

My father would not approve of my choices. It's none of his business. Of course, I don't subject him to something I know he doesn't want to deal with.

as much as people say things like "being gay is a blessing" or "being gay is great"....it really isn't. It sucks, and mainly for this reason. :hs:

well thanks for the words of encouragement, everyone

I feel better now i guess....I was hurting the other day...but it's past

I thought that I could be angry or hurt or whatnot but decided that it's not important enough to worry about, best to just make the most of the situation that I can :p
