I purchased a half dozen 50ft hanks the other day, and have since then been weaving, wrapping and bundling the 550 cord together with anything that makes sense.

But seriously, the cord is really nice to have around and has made a nice and much needed addition to my bug out bag.

This is only the beginning, unfortunately:

My trusty mini Zippo, now made better with para cord  :

Benchmade Stryker made better with a little lanyard loop and square knot braid at the end:

Cool little projects you got there.

You might like trick line too. It's more of a stagecraft product, but it is similar.

Obviously good pictures aren't necessary for this thread :o
I think it has a ball of foil inside, didn't want it to be to heavy.

550 cord is as WMD as you can get.

He's not talking about making a new skirt for his daughter.

I'm not saying it isn't skillfully done.

the wrap on the e2d looks pretty ingenious. you could easily store it in a pocket lens down like that.

Yeah, thats actually exactly what I do when I go out. Since I broke the pocket clip, i needed another way to keep te flashlight vertical in my pocket, and allow me to quickly retrieve the light when needed, hence the loop on the end:

Plus with that particular weave, I managed to get 3 and a quarter feet of 550 cord on there. It doesnt look like it, but its all there. Def will come in handy when I need some cord to tie something down, or a makeshift belt or replacing a broken shoelace...you get the picture:

I assure you, I wrapped my EDC items in 550 for function way before form. It does look neat, but it serves a purpose first and foremost. Especially with the Surefire. The cord + unique weave/braid acts as a great grip, so its much easier to hold the light in wet conditions (Read: Florida) plus having 3 feet of 550 around when you may really need it is extremely helpful. The lighter is for the heat, since the mini Zippos tend to get hotter than the thicker/bigger ones. The knife is for when im fishing around in my cargo pocket for it, and thus making it easer to grab with the lanyard loop on the end. The only thing dandy about it is the neat little square knot braid on the end. :wiggle:
