I have a free BJJ class next tuesday to make sure I like it before I pay. First month is $150 and it includes the gi. The head BJJ guy is a black belt from ATT(Andres "Gigetto" Soares). After the first month it's $189/month for BJJ/Muay Thai. http://www.evolutionarymartialarts.com/

I'm fucking excited. This will get me back in shape, since i've let myself go a bit in the last few years.

I'll pay it because it's only 10 minutes down the road and they have a black belt teaching the bjj. :hsd:

Atleast you have the first month to see if you like it. Including the gi that is a great price to try it.

Jesus. What town do you live in? There are better schools with more accredited instructors and actual pro fighters in many parts of NJ, for much less.

Same. We have one "mma" night, one boxing class and 2 no gi classes, but I don't really go to any of them.

I guess Hackettstown is much closer than Whippany. Well, George Sernak (one of Renzo's guys) runs a school in Denville. I'm just leary of any guy who refers to himself as "Sifu." There are no Chinese arts integrated into MMA, and to have people address you as "Master" is rather pompus. Hell, the BJJ black belts I encountered in Brazil insisted that they be called by first name. It sounds like this guy is hopping on the MMA bandwagon.

iv'e only trained in 2 places but

prices seem to range from about $50-$200 depending on the facilities and trainers, type of training, some places focus on karate, BJJ, boxing, a mix etc. the original poster is paying a bunch of money but if you look at the facility it's pretty damn nice, i pay $100 but for less than that in my area you're gonna be training with grandma's and kids instesad of fighters.

as far as newb friendly, i think most people training are as far as i've seen, as long as the newb has the right attitude and doesn't come in going 100% while training and doing stupid shit thinking they're the next UFC champ or something.

but that's just my opinion and as i've said i've only trained at 2 schools and less time than many on here

That's about how much it costs to train anything besides karate/tae kwan do around here. That's exactly why I'm not training right now. I wouldn't be able to do it often enough to get my money's worth imo.
