75-80 miles? How big is your tank?

wow, that seems really low. I i get about 170 to 190 miles on my zx6. how big is the tank? And running out of fuel sucks, had it happen to me once on the freeway, luckily, the tow trucks that patrol the freeways out here give you a free gallon, so that got me to where i was going and back home.

thank god i have a low fuel light...my buddy has a crusier w/o any gas indication. His bike just dies, and he has to switch to a reserve tank.
    btw i ride a 650 and get ~150 on 3/4 a tank

hey, a buddy of mine was dealing with this same issue. and no, your bike does not give 80miles a tank, the problem is that you are putting the nozzle all the way into the tank when you are filling up, so you only get about 2 gallons.... which equals about 80 miles :)

when you are filling up, just barely put the tip in the tank, fill up till you can actually touch the gas with a finger if you wanted to. and only then your tank is filled.

these are noobie tips, so I dont know if you are already doing this. but like i said, a buddy of mine that just bought a kawi was telling me the same thing, and i couldnt see why until i saw him pumping gas.

I get about 160 on my 1000RR. I never ran out of gas and never really road beyond 160......

    I hope this helps.

wowzers...yeah that is quite low. I didn't know that they had bikes that ran with such a small tank. I would think that would be a bit inconvenient. I have a zx6r and i get about 140 with conservative driving before the light comes on. I normally do not pay attention to the light but rather try to fill up gas around the 130-150 range. If not I think I've gotten as high as 167 freeway miles.

If you REALLY want to know how long your tank lasts, wait till its about empty, and carry a small container of gas with you, that way, when you run out, you will get a fair reading and will have some gas to start her up again.

Had that happen to me too many times. The worst part is the wait for your friends because it usually happens in the middle of nowhere :(

My gixxer gets about 220miles (4.1g at the pump) out of a tank according to a recent trip to the coast. Pops rode along on a cruiser, he kept bragging about his 250mile fuel range. I kept asking if he wanted to fill up everytime we stopped past the 150 mile mark, he refused. Next thing I know he's falling behind. Turns out the bike was set to reserve and he ran out, only go 196 miles out of that tank.

Me being a resourceful son a bitch I grabbed a 20oz aquafina bottle and headed for the nearest gas station, almost though I wasn't gonna make it. Filled up my bike, filled up the bottle, put it in my pocket and rode back to him :mamoru:

I've came close a couple of times running across alligator ally. I can make it about 180 miles with F4i...but that's running on fumes.

Nothing worse than being tucked in going 65 on the freeway praying that you can make it to the next gas station...and having all the cars pass you that you flew by earlier. :uh:
