I set a new PR, ran 1 mile in 5:30. I almost threw up when I finished I really gave it everything I had.

How does my 5:30 1 mile time compare to Olympic runners or college track runners?

    Thanks.

2 weeks ago I ran it in 5:59, a few days later I ran it in 5:47, then the next time I ran it in like 7:30 because I think my legs were burnt out, then I rested a week and ran it again last night and did it in 5:30 :eek3:

Olympic level's are under 4 minutes. They don't run the US mile, they run the metric mile, 1500m in competition.

Hicham El Guerrouj from Morocco is the world record holder in the 1500m (3:26), the mile (3:43), and the 2000m (4:44)

The high school national mile record is 3:53.6. Most Olympic runners run close to 4 or under. And you have to be running under 3:50 to think about getting the gold. That is still a fast time, but it's no where close to being a really good time. Faster than most people though (including me :coolugh:).

There's a world of difference between a 4 min. mile and a 5 min. mile.

Anyone can run 5:30 with a little bit of training. I went from running a 10 minute mile to a 5:30 mile in probably 6 months.
