I can't wait to get it
let us know what you think. i wonder how quick it is to show the video previews. i know when i open front row and select videos, then movies...i sit and wait about 10-15 seconds before the next screen comes up with the listing and the preview. during that wait time, i can hear the hard drive doing it's thing. this is on a c2d whitemacbook with 1gb ram, stock hard drive
i would have bought one in a heartbeat if it provided dvr functionality..even if it costed $400
in before a bunch of faggots who have never used it come in here and tell you it sucks
i think it looks cool, give us reviews after you use it
I want the new airport so I can plug my external hdd with music/vid on it for total mobility!
well, my main computer is an imac G5 ans the tv I'm gonna hook up is about 6 feet away. I'll let everyone know how well it plays. I've been ripping Star wars 1-6 DVD's using handbrake and buying tv's shows (veronica mars) the star wars are at 1700kbs using h.264 the. Apple Tv will be hooked up via component cable, sry no hdmi on my HDTV.
but yea, I'll let everyone know
dvi cable > you
just out of curiosity, how does one go about getting non-itunes video content into itunes? never played with it before, is it drag 'n drop?
i think its somewhat overpriced. played around with it at macworld, not worth the $$$ imo, but if i could afford it, id drop the dough on one
There was just a post about this somewhere a few days ago... you can do it in Quicktime PRO, or ise iSquint... QT PRO, and it's simple...
so let me get this straight...the apple tv hooks up to your tv say via hdmi and will download your itunes library to the apple tv and show it on your tv right? Assuming that your computer is hard wired or wirelessly connected to your network right? This will work with movies and tv episodes that i have "acquired" right? hmmm if this works like i think it does i might just buy one for my lcd in my living room
well, the way i'm doing it is gettting DVD's from the library and encoding with handbrake using h.264 at 1700kbs (baseline profile not main). most of my music is my own & I've already tried palying a movie from my iMac to my macbook and didn't have any problems (played smoothly). I'm probably gonna transfer my music to the AppleTV hard drive and stream the movies to it. once the take a parts come out I'm probably gonna replace the Hard drive to 100GB & if possible replace the RAM as well
oh yea, heres hopeing apple does the right thing and allows apple Tv users to connect external Hard Drives to the back USB port.
I'd totally connect a 500GB hard drive then
i really wish elgota would figure out how to hook up the eyetv to this...it would make an amazing dvr
but thats just dreaming
Can people running Windows see the apple?
on a mac and can't see it
how'd you do that
on firefox I see a square, on safari I see TV
no, I was at work earlier today and it came out like this
can see it in safari, couldn't in camino
convert your shit to h.264 ma nigga
nope...I'm posting an EDU on this sometime soon, I spent the last week getting 6 seasons of TV and 8 movies downloaded and converted to my iTunes library
