but my FFL isn't open until Tuesday
Would it be bad if I contacted Spike's and changed which FFL I'm using?
Bay Area Gun Vault is open today
95 shipped for a decent lower...+100 in FFL fees
the cheapest lower i can find around here are double star lowers at 165...+ 35 in DROS and whatnot...i think i'd rather take a spike's lower
just wait you impatient bastard
I wouldn't. POS gougers right there...
Unfortunately you generally pay more in fees in the bay area. It is definately not easy to be a FFL there
if you're willing to make the drive City Arms in Pacifica charges $70 total fro DROS and transfer
In for pictures of out of spec lower cut up with a band saw
Does the FFL doing the transfer have to actually pay anything, or are they just charging to fill out some paperwork?
Sorry for the ignorance, I've never had to do a transfer. . .A friend of mine has his FFL and has offered to handle any transfers I may need, I'd love to pick up a Spike's lower for $95 if I didn't have to pay any transfer fees
$100 for FFL?
Fuck that shit. Pack your bags and move, now.
Why the fuck do gun owners stay in California? Seriously, if it were me, I'd move out of that shithole or any other if it was like that.
lol I pay $10 at my local pawn shop (Moose Creek Sports for MI crew, I highly recommend them if you're in the market for any used guns. Prices are good and their service is top notch)
Family, work, other hobbies, etc.
So every gun that your FFL buddy has transfered for you, you've never done a 4473 form on it?
yeah, that kind of behavior might raise the ire of the BATFE.
welcome to CA
I haven't had him do any transfers for me yet. I don't have any money to buy anything Poor college student ftl.
Do you really think so? When I bought my CC gun, I filled out whatever form they gave me and after a 5 minute phonecall I was cleared to make the purchase. As far as I saw, they wouldn't have had any way of determining if the seller was a friend of mine or even possibly a relative But since I'm not familiar with the actual FFL transfer process, I could be making a very bad assumption here.
If they were given reason to suspect that I was flipping stuff for cash in FTF transactions or otherwise doing something shady, I could see an issue. Just having someone I know do a transfer for me doesn't seem like a big deal though.
I think they misunderstood you and thought that your buddy wasnt running a background on ya after you bought a gun. There's nothing illegal about free transfers as long as you fill out the 4473.
$65 stripped lowers
Friend of mine that worked in a shop in San Diego told me that through fees and taxes, the state of California makes more money on each gun sold than the store does.
That would be a 4473 so your are all on the level. It sounded like your buddy with an FFL was doing transfers to you without the paperwork or background (phone call) which would be very bad, i may have misunderstood or misread though.
I'm pretty confident with my choice of a Spike's lower, I've heard a lot of bad things, and the only gripe being how they raised the prices after the election.
Driving to Pacifica and back will be 30 dollars in gas for me from Milpitas...18 mph highway ftl. Ok maybe not 30 but yeah...
Edit: I also plan on picking up their lower parts kit and BCG.
I run a spike's LPK & M4 stock kit with the heavy buffer. No complaints, my buddy does a good deal of their machine work..
