I have come to the obvious conclusion that this cannot stay on the camera at all times since having it on makes it hard to see through the viewfinder at night. Why does the top part of the filter rotate? If i screw it in to the lens the part that isn't threaded into the lens rotates, what is the purpose of this?

There weren't really any instructions with this and an hour of searching hasn't provided much.

The purpose is that it's polarized in a certain direction. If you're taking a picture water or reflections in it, twist it until reflections in the water or window are minimal

It was hard finding any decent comparing pictures, this is the best I could find:

    This is without a polarizer:

It also enhances colors too. If you're taking a picture of a landscape, it can make the sky appear bluer, and the grass and trees appear greener

You can really see the difference in the doors on the balcony.

Circular polarizer is really a must have for photography.

This is what i was looking for.

    This I already knew.

This is why OT was my last resort, ask a simple question and a bunch of elitist pricks will come out and try to make you feel like an idiot.
