reeeee...whatever, last time i asked i didn't get a lot of quality responses

    specifically,

    1. a system board : for socketA, must have 8x agp, 5 pci and at least 3 ram slots, would prefer nvidia chipset just so i don't have to do a total rebuild of my OS - had a 7njl1 board

    2. a heatsink/fan : must be *quiet*

    3. a 480w+ psu: MUST be *quiet*

    4. i'm also looking for good deals on huge capacity IDE drives for my NAS, *cheap* (but no M..... brand!)

    5. and if anyone knows where i can get an adapter to convert an SATA drive to IDE (just a pcb board that on one side plugs into the drive, and the other side has a power and 40pin connector for ide cable), i could use one of those as well

i'll stick with my radeon 9800 vid and current nic/sound/ata cards

You are really better off just buying SATA drives/controller in the first place

Ahhh, assumed socketA board was for building NAS device. Why dont you go with socket 939?

Abit NF7-S (uses NF2 chipset) has AGP 8X, I believe 5 PCI, and 3 DIMM's. Also has SATA support.

Umm, I can sell you a CoolerMaster Jet 7, copper base, aluminum fins, fan controller. loks liek this [IMG]

Just sold my PSU, sorry. Enermax makes good ones. Get one with a fan control if you're worried about noise. Also, strong 12v, 5v, and 3.3v are a must.

I have an IDE to SATA converter if you're interested.

oooh, i'll have to look into that then

seen and heard - way too loud

    need exact opposite of that

sata drive > pcb board (not a pci) > ide cable

Ah, ok. just look into a fan controller w/e you get. my old dynatron fan was ~50CFM's on boot up...so loud, but cooled like no other.

Aww, that blows. Was a great board, had mine for a long time.

Look into the DFI NF2 Lanparty board, i think they still make them. Gigabyte's are good as well.

that cant be right, the new NF4 boards aren't even that much. and when the NF2 was NEW, it was even cheaper than that. at any rate, its discontinued.

damn, almost all SocketA boards are hard to find now. bummer.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=179 - thats the biggest selection i can find.:wtc: I'd only buy Epox or MSI.

I owned this board http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1614829&CatId=179 and it;s still running strong in my GF's computer to this day.
