im gonna be a SSgt for 12 weeks, I just thought it was really funny becasue I thought I was only E-5 in pay grade not title, and guys were calling me Sgt and I was just like WTF, I only swore in 5 min ago.

For some reason I think the title SSgt would have got me more respect then the upcoming 2nd lieutenant rank I will recieve. lol

I don't know the regs on it, but to me getting paid as an E5 does not mean you are a SSgt.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

Noone is getting butthurt, your words show how little understanding or respect for the rank system. To you it may be a joke but the people who worked to get to that rank and understand the responsiblity and pride that comes with it to them its not a joke.

thats not true. As a cadet, I get saluted by enlisted and tell people what to do all the time(this is when im in the national guard as a cadet also, back in rotc world no one enlisted listens to me :wtc: )

i don't mean to jump on you, i used to be an E-5, and then i became a cadet, and i get pissed when cadets think for some reason because they are getting paid as E-5 that they somehow have become NCOs or something.

there is no standard or requirement for enlisted to salute cadets...some enlisted just dont know this and go ahead and salute anyway because they actually have a desire to be proper, if a cadet knows this and doesnt correct them, he is a prick....:noes:

I guarantee there are no crew chiefs making that mistake. I forget to salute real officers all the time. Just grows on you after avoiding them on the flightline for so long:noes:

Oh and to our newest E-5, don't let it go to your head. I've seen one stripers sideline E-6s when they don't know their ass from their job.

i agree with you, i meant junior enlisted, they tend to have a higher desire to do everything properly as opposed to someone whos been in for a while...for the most part

i forget to salute officers that i dont know...like outside of my command, because most of the time outside of my command im not in uniform...and the ones at my command we all avoid walking past outdoors anyway same as you heh

I don't have a problem saluting people. I just forget or avoid it by looking busy.:noes:
I still salute known officers out of uniform and I've thrown one up to known retired officers as well. I'd like to think I'm not a total dirtbag airman.:hsd:

I'd love for a cadet to try to tell me what to do. Or to mention the fact that I didn't salute him.
