So, I've always kind of liked the lensbabies, but was never a huge fan of the quality, so I decided I wanted to make my own. After scouring the net, I actually found a tutorial on how to make one. So I bought all my supplies:
    1. $5 plunger from lowes
    2. gaffers tape
    3. UG condition MF lens from KEH $29 bucks (I actually bought 2, a bronica 50 f/2.8 and a mamiya rb67 127 f/3.5)

so, I finally put it together last and snapped a few test shots... not the best subject, or the best pic, but it works. It was severely underexposed, but oh well... I think I was bending this upward @ about a 45deg angle. I need to take a bunch of test shots to see what effects with what bends I get.

I originally wanted to use the bronica lens, both because of the f/2.8, and the focal length, but I couldn't use it with the plunger body because the lens had to be so close to the body that I couldn't get a good bend, so I opted for the 127(which I actually bought to use on my RB67) The focal length is a little longer than what I wanted, but it works out ok... when I make v2.0 I'll probably try to find some material that will let me use the 50.

why would someone want a device that can take a pic like that? I dont get it. And not just your pic specifically but what kind of situation would I need to be in that would make me say "If I only had me a lensbaby......"

like I said, this is just a snap to make sure it works. When used in an artistic purpose driven shot they can add a certain "something" to your shots. it's all about dof play.

Like any tool, it has it purposes. Wedding shooters love them for engagement shots.

that's really what I want it for.... for balcony shots during the ceremony, and some portraits.

Cool man. I've been doing it the ghetto way.....taking the lens off the body and shifting it around
Got any pics of the actual contraption?

none yet. I'll try to get a shot of it in the next day or two if I can... it does look very similar to the one on this blog post though

I do it myself in PS w/a couple gradient masks. Takes more tweaking, but I'm not spending a couple hundred on a niche lens.

yeah, it can be done in PS fairly easy, but the entire thing cost me under $20 bucks to make. It probably won't get used a ton because it's bulky and a pain to carry around...

Oh, yea. You do it yourself then all the better. The LB's look hand made to begin with and for for over $100.

I might still have the mount from my kit lens that broke. If that helps.

Camera dropped and it took the brunt of the fall. Pushed the front element in at an angle. I took it apart and posted photos!

Pick up some black silicon sealant at a local hardware store. Much better than the gaffers tape.

    Stinky for a few tho.
