After reading someone else on here had purchased the Brinkmann Maxfire light from a Wal-Mart.. I picked one up as well.

EXCELLENT light  There's a good bit of woods here, and I was able to see VERY well through them at dark tonight.

    All in all, very

I think it's just as good as my Surefire G2 nitrolon. I actually like the maxfire better because the beam isnt quite as centralized

    Maxfire at Target = 16.99

    Maxfire at Walmart I've seen = 19.99

One of the few times I found cheaper shit than walmart.

Yea, I picked up a LED bulb conversion for my mini-MagLite too.. not impressed. I decided to give it to my grandfather. The Maxfire is now my one true

I think I'm gonna go find me a good deal on batteries as well & stock up.

I'd be kinda wary of those no name Lithiums, they could be fine, or not. For about the same price you can buy Surefire's or Batterystations. both have been tested extensively on Candlepowerforums and rate very similar. The SF's are $1.25 ea when bought in 12 packs. Batterstations are $1 each

I went ahead and bough myself one. Definately bright. But what the hell is this silent signal feature?

Also theres a push on off but isnt the button also a momentary switch? I mean my other flashlight could be on/off with the bottom screwed in or you could press the button for on/off pretty much only when the button is pressed.

Put partial pressure on it & it goes momentary.. you put a small amount of pressure & you get momentary light.. you press it all the way, it clicks on.

The silent signal feature means you can signal (use the momentary feature), and it won't make a clicking noise.

WOW, that could buy you like 6 SF 123's. When CPF's gets back online I'll post a link to their battery tests.

the energizer batteries lasted 7-8 times longer than other batteries (duracell, etc...) tested against it (a local news station did a test on them). if thats the case, they might be worth it

might not be a bad idea. might wait until those 1.50 x pair batteries arrive so we can test them too. if people want to make donations to fund this test we'll accpet them.

as far as the lights go, it might not be fair since mine is 3w and yours is 1.5w

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of AA alkaline's vs. Lithium AA's. When you're talking 123's, they're all Lithium and test similar for comparable name brand tests.

Why test it, everything you want it right there.

    No. Okay? No.
:werd: I love my new Surefire G2. They're almost the same light, I'd gladly pay an extra $15 for the one that won't give me any problems and I can easily buy accessories/replacement parts for. But I guess the Maxfires are good beaters that you wouldn't mind just throwing in the bottom of a duffel or a toolbox and not worry about it. A lot of lumens for $20 either way.
