But my driver’s license is from Texas (I’m from texas) I cannot go and pick the gun up (it is only about a 2 hour drive)

Can I get the shop to send it to another FFL shop and then pick it up from there? (I believe they would be willing to do this) or is the only place they can send it texas??

Any ideas short of getting a fucking ohio driver’s license to solve this? my texas id doesn't expire till feb of 2011

    Thanks ot

I'm not positive but I think you'll have to have the FFL in Ohio send the gun to a FFL in Texas, kind of a pain in the ass. I live on the border of Oregon and Washington and to buy a handgun across state lines, it has to go through a FFL even if it's a private party.

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to have it sent to a FFL in Texas? Driver's licenses are like 50 bucks or something right? It's been a while since I've gotten one haha.

I've heard of people buying out of state, I think it depends on that states laws. I know of people who go to GA to buy guns because of the tax difference :dunno:

I always thought you could as long as that state didn't have any weird restrictions (Like IL's foid).

My DL here in TN was $16. I think it was $10 in IL.

Just get a state ID, don't even bother with a DL :dunno:

I know of a couple guys who got busted buying handguns here in Oregon from a guy from Washington, the deal took place here in Oregon but since it was a deal between states they got screwed, it's a stupid law but check out to see if it's like that in your state. It might only be handguns too, I'm not sure.

well, the guy said he couldn't legally do the background check or whatever because he would enter in my TX id and that the gun was going to (being picked up at) OH. the system would basicly return a big fat NO!

    weak

You're likely going to have to turn in your TX identification to get the OH one.

You should only have to turn the ID in if it's a DL. If it's just a state ID, they shouldn't require you to turn the ID in.

I thought if you moved out of state they want you to change your license within a few weeks anyway.

So there's basically no way to purchase a handgun outside your state of residence? :hs:

You can give someone money for it but no you cannot take it, it will have to be shipped to a ffl in your state.

this is what I dealt with, and why I had to part with my texas id to ** legally ** buy a gun.

pretty :greddy: , but at least there was no waiting period or anything. I just waltzed in and got it.

    awesome.
