I might bite the bullet and put 100 bucks down as a pre pay. It seems camera stores have no idea when this will be back in stock.

It's a great lens and is amazingly sharp. Watch for lens flare, it can get pretty bad and CAs can get pretty bad to at high contrast areas. Also, watch for pelfed horizons.

thanks for the warning/advice. I'll keep it in mind.

I already went to the location and took some picks with my 17-55, but I felt it wasn't wide enough and I didn't want to stitch images together to get a decent shots of a wall.

I need to start looking at examples of what shots look good.

whats the widest angle lens that doesnt have any distortion at the sides? anything wider than 20mm?

funny things is the two things you talked about were the two things that i had the biggest issue with...the pelfed horizon wasn't too bad, but the lens flare was just brutal in the night shots below.

the lens is sharp without a question at 2.8, stopped down it only gets better.
The only issue was that i kept wanting to go wider with my shots and i wished its minimum focusing distance was closer.

I wanted to get that Fisheye look with this lens, but it wasn't happening. :mamoru:

Distortion on the sides depends on at what angle you were taking the shot...i tried my best to keep the subject parallel to minimize it, but overall it does a great job at controlling it.

    Harsh criticism welcomed :)

Main question is how do I keep the Glare from the lights and the moon to a minimum????????

1 - the white balance here was intentionally set to a warmer tone

i wouldnt say thats the main problem. i cant make out anything on the ground but vague shapes and a few trees. :ugh:
its like the left and right would be better as 2 seperate pics, taken closer

interesting point...thanks for the feedback. I do see your point the shapes being vague now. I guess i was more concerned about the sky and the clouds than what was in front.

    Now onto the glare!!?
