specifically the clamshell model with the 366mhz in it. It came with Mac os 9.2.2 installed but everything seems protected and i can't delete any files or anything. Maybe it was used in a school setting and many of the features were locked? I'm fairly new to os 9 :hs: is there anyway i can reinstall a fresh version of os9 without having to buy a retail disk?

Install Tiger. X > 9. If it came from a school, then there's a chance there is a firmware password on it. To get rid of it, you have to change the RAM configuration then zap the PRAM. If you've got any questions just ask!

Restart the computer and hold down Command+Option+P+R. Keep holding it down while it restarts a couple of times, then it should be good

How exactly did you try to make a boot disk with a .dmg on 9.2.2? It sounds like you're just making a data cd with the OS on it, which wouldn't let it boot from the disk.

So using toast, you created a disk image. Did you then burn that disk image? I'm willing to bet that the disk image you created isn't bootable.
