and holy shit, I want one :run:

I've been trying to figure out what shit I can sell on craigslist to help me get enough money to pay for it, lol.

That thing isn't nearly as big as I thought it would be.

I kinda want to play with a D200 just to see what that feels like. A D200 is about 600 bucks cheaper than the D300... so it would be more affordable

D200 feels almost identical..but the output in image on the d300 is stupidly superior

If you want a D200, save your money and get a D80. Its the same camera, smaller body.

Hmm, the D80 still seems like it's lacking in a few things that the D200 has.

The burst buffer is much smaller and it only shoots at 3fps vs. 5 on the d200 and 6 on the d300.

Can the D80 remotely control the SB-600/SB-800?

I have a SB800 and I have no problems firing it remotely from D80 or D300

What kind of glass do you have to go with that sexy D300?

Well, right now my lens collection consists of:

    Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
    Nikkor 55-200mm VR
    Sigma 10-20mm

I also have the kit lens that came with my D50. In order to buy the D300 I would probably sell my D50 with the 18-55mm lens and then look at upgrading to something better for the 300

:mamoru: I'd get some better glass first. Your photos aren't going to improve with a new body.

nothing wrong w/ the 50 1.8 and the 10-20mm. Great lenses... and the other one is decent, nothing special. :dunno:

It's just a shame that I'm looking at anywhere between 1,200-2,400 for a decent mid range lens with f/2.8 :hsd:

I was thinking about getting the 18-200 in place of the 55-200.

I've got the words nikkor and nikon added to my craigslist RSS feed... so if any good fast lenses pop up, i'm planning on buying them :x:

The 55-200VR is actually pretty sharp, it's just the plastic build is crap. I wouldn't get the 18-200VR on a d300. It's not very sharp, and with 12MP on a 1.5x crop sensor, it's gonna show the flaws of that lens pretty readily.

save a few hundred and buy the Sigma 18-200 OS (Optical Stabilization). I have it and love it. I wouldn't spend $800 on a lens that doesn't have a fixed f/2.8 aperture. :dunno:
