    It sucked ass.

I've been having chest pains since friday, woke up today after sleeping a couple hours with this unbearable pain all down the left side of my torso. I've fucked up my back and broke my wrist twice before, and they paled in comparison to the pain I had this morning. Decided to go to the hospital. 4 hours later, I found out I had slipped a rib out of place, and the left half of my diaphram and bottom part of my left lung had partially collapsed due to the rib popping out of place. Appearently the rib snapped back in on the way to the hospital, or after I got there, before they x-rayed me, according to the doc. Now I have to do these breathing exercises to fill my diaphram and lung back up, and they gave me some muscle relaxers, but no pain pills. :wtf:

Anyone else have something similar happen? The doc told me take aleve for the pain, but it isn't doing shit. :wtc:

Oh, and other than that, I'm in excellent health for someone my age. 99 oxygenation on my blood, 118/73 BP, normal heart rate, good lungs, etc. I was shocked by that. :eek3:

If your rib slipped out of place, I don't think he could give you anything serious for pain except standard NSAIDs. Oxycontin is extremely extreme for something like that. If you had cancer, then yeah, I could see him maybe giving oxycontin, but you'd be on many other drugs too.

Now, if you were living someplace where Corz lives where the doctors don't have to worry about the DEA officer cracking down on an oxycontin overprescribing epidemic, then you could probably get oxycontin to treat anal leakage. But if you're in a place with a decent drug task force, good luck with that.

I was just hoping for something stronger than aleve. She was worried that since my chest was hurting, I'd breathe in less in my left lung causing it to collapse further, hence the breathing tube thing. If I couldn't feel the pain, I'd breathe normally. :dunno:

Wtf. Actually I was having pains on the left side of my ribs 2 weeks ago due to a basketball game (bumped into someone's shoulder). Couldn't breathe for a few seconds then went back into the game. After a week it felt better and went to play again. Somebody bumped me from behind and it made my ribs hurt again.

It still hurts now but doesn't bother me much. Just that I couldn't lift heavy stuffs and can't really jump around.

So far the breathing thing has actually been helping with the pain, I just have to do it a lot more than they told me to. I've been doing it about 50 times an hour, roughly 10 per commercial break. :mamoru:

I just thought worst case scenario would be my rib popped out and punctured my lung, or a pulmonary embolism, but luckily, it was neither. Now I just wonder if my rib did pop out, or if my lung just started to collapse. My x-rays looked fine on my ribs, so I'm hoping it popped out and back in, that way it's not something with my lung just collapsing. :hs:

So which rib popped out? Did it pop out at the sternum or the spine? Is there any cartilage damage? Should you have to worry about an increased chance of this happening again? What exact awkard position should you be wary of next time?

The doctor said it was one of the lower ribs on my left side that is more "free-floating" than your other ribs. Dunno if it'll happen again, only if I have some sort of rib problem not picked up in the x-rays. Dunno about the position either. She said if you cough or sneeze hard enough, it can happen too. Some people do that and actually break ribs. :noes:

Ahh, I see. Those floating ribs are a bitch. I've done that coughing thing before and it just feels like you want to collapse your lungs forever to get rid of the pain. I've found that hyperventilation helped then.

According to them, the rib part is pretty common, since it's a free floating rib. The lung and diaphram, are not so common. :hs:

This is serious WTF? Now one can even sleep without fear of having a rib fall out of place. :o
