Not sure how well known he is in the states, but he was on "London Ink" which aired over here, basically a UK version of Miami/LA ink. Just got the first sketch today and i'm really happy with it, i just asked him for an hourglass with those words and said i was happy for him to run with it.

Can't wait to get it done, i'm interested to see what he does with the colours :x:

Oh, and it's going on my left leg, on the calf.

until recently i have never seen a tattoo artist give out sketches to clients. it looks good just find it strange because now you and the world for that matter have this guys drawing to do what you want with.

I already paid a deposit so he's pretty safe that i won't go to another artist :o

Plus i've only posted it here, i can't imagine anyone on OT would want to use it because it's a pretty simple design that most artists can come up with. Either way, i like it :h5:

We only give out designs to regular customers. :dunno: I don't see it being done too often either. We had a customer bring in another artists sketch and we refused to do it. We found out later that the kid had stole the design when the artist was on the phone. :squint:

Anyways.... sketch looks good, i like the concept. I'm with saosko though that you need to make sure he cleans up those rope parts that aren't symmetrical

:nono: That's a shitty thing to do. I guess it's unfortunate but there are people out there that don't give the artists the respect they deserve :hs:

He told me he'd happily re-draw anything i wasn't happy with - personally i like it how it is but i might ask him to do as you guys have suggested, just to see how it looks. When you say the rope bits do you mean making the spirals on each side match, or the part where it meets in the middle... or both? :o

Edit: BTW it's good that you guys called the shop to ask about the sketch :h5:

    Simple but nice.

I agree that the ropes need to be cleaned up a bit, but I think it'd throw off the drawing if they were perfectly symmetrical and identical.

    Can't wait to see colors/execution.

Not sure what i've done to deserve that, but thanks

Well it could be many things, the twisty parts of the rope aren't quite symetrical, maybe the way they bend is a little off.... like i said i think if they're absolutely mirrored it would look.... i dunno, just too perfect? Or am i smoking crack :o

That's like saying the waves in the bottom of the hour glass aren't symmetrical.

It's a rope. It's hand drawn. There is foliage covering part of the rope. It looks great.

    Nice :h5:

Don't plan on getting good pics of it on Monday though. Either grab some right after it's done or wait until it's 100% healed.

Am i right in thinking you got the skanking bacon tattoo? If so, nice work :h5:

I've had the dates set for the tattoo and the gig for like 5 months now, it's nice to finally be counting the days rather than months/weeks :o

Unfinished pedal. Point this out to either the artist or the actual tattoo artist and it'll be no big deal.

    It is done

Excuse the crappy pic, it's actually quite difficult taking a picture of the back of your own leg :o
Also this was taken 2 days after it was done so it's covered in bepanthen (nappy rash cream).

The red parts in the hourglass are not ink :o

All in all it took him less than 2 hours including a smoke break, dude doesn't fuck around that's for sure. Awesome, awesome guy - signed a book for me and gave me a free t shirt, i have no doubts that i'll be going back to him in the near future to get more work done.... is it bad that i'm thinking about it already? :o
Very happy with how it came out, i told him i wouldn't look at it until he was done, didn't suggest any colours or anything so it was a big surprise for me at the end.
I'll have to get someone to take a proper pic when it's healed
